I'm gonna be pretend bold and say some thoughts about Roathe . Teehee or something

I think dismissing him entirely as a character as just some gross, annoying weirdo is sort of like saying you whole heartedly cannot handle any nuance or narrative reasoning for why he may exist. Even if you're like me and didn't really want more protoframes to think about. You can dislike characters, I really don't care if you do or don't, but to say he isn't fascinating is hurting my soul a little.

Roathe is, to a degree, an implied former antagonist and now he's just some de-fanged former military-flavor sadist. The devil and dealing references are very heavy handed, as well. If he's dead in the water as a character from that in terms of taking anything he says in KIM chats seriously you're sorta falling for the inversed halo effect. Just because he IS a devil doesn't mean he's always lying. It doesn't mean he always has the worst intentions... but most definitely ones that benefit him.

He wasn't an all powerful guy either. Depending how far you get in the chats the implication is pretty clear he was at his best, a high achieving fucktoy with a military title. He wanted to do the same thing the Tenno did and be rid of the Orokin, even if it was not as easily executable by him or as trustworthy.

I forced myself to not spoil myself with reading ahead with the kimulacrum but it seems to me he's being set up as a self-hating sort of guy and being given the chance at redemption. With how badly people want Entrati to come around to being a good character or not having to kill him for their own reasons, in comparison I feel like Roathe is rather small potatoes given he's just another one of Entrati's victims where the power imbalance wasn't in Roathe's favor in their society. I genuinely do think it's a good thought generator - PURELY INSIDE THE CONTEXT OF THE GAME NOT AFFECTED EXTERNAL BIAS - as why the game is prompting you to converse with Roathe. To potentially forgive him. Why Entrati picked HIM to decipher if their caste of people are forgivable. Will you forgive Roathe? Will you understand Roathe? Will you forgive Entrati, and understand him as well? Are you willing to learn and bear the weight of what it means to have the naked and horrible humanity of the people you dislike face you and measure that against their crimes? Is it making you reflect on anything else in the game or in real life? These are things worth exploring.

Anyways, I'm gonna continue enjoy this stupid blue brat and see what happens.

I don't know who needs to hear this but the reason I think its fine to call Roathe a twink is because he's like. Considerably thin even compared to Lyon. Any bulkyness he has in like the shoulders is from his armor. His body type is very similar to Uriel, who is a few steps away from being one of the thinnest male warframes. If Arthur is a twunk, then Roathe is riding a fine line. You look at that snatched waist and try to tell me otherwise 💅

Fun life update. My bank took all my money including ALL of my meager savings!

Even with bills I need to pay coming up soon, it's not like they care. I've had to open new bank accounts. Funny how taking responsibility, closing credit cards, and actively paying creditors just makes them want to take more of my money. Funny, right?

I have to up-end a lot of things I had set up now, and all I can ask for is assistance in this situation.

I think, right now, even like hitting a goal of $100 would be enough to get me over this hump despite losing everything. I'm used to starting from goddamn zero, anyways. I can't in good conscious take on commissions right now until I finish my backlog, so again, I can't promise any sort of drawing in return for individual things.

Anyways I think if anyone used their brains. No, Roathe isn't an act of erasure to a certain other Orokin character(s) with a similar concept of Orokin redemption or reflecting on the empire. Its almost like a certain someone has a voice line about the whole situation. Its almost like Roathe is a conduit to tie the Entrati family back into the goings on. Multiple characters with similar traits and ideals are allowed to exist, and infact will strengthen the concept being pushed over time if used correctly. The goddamn story isnt over yet!

If all you care about is nostalgia for old characters to the point you get enraged when a new character is added to bring the older ones back to relevance and back under the looking glass you should just. Stop playing live service games. New characters added to the story?? Oh my god, was there a fork in your kitchen too?

Sorry I saw something that made me roll my eyes scrolling the "For You" dashboard (mistake).

I think some fandomheads need to take a step back and realize the way to open or invite deep, philisophical discussion about *your* favorite character and not the *popular* new character(s) is by, yknow, starting the discussion yourself. You do not start friendly conversation demanding a topic change, and then by slinging ad hominems, whataboutisms and labels of xys-ism against those not immediately swayed to talk about your favs. I'd love to be invited to give my thoughts about your blorbo, because I like them too and have my own thoughts and analysis, most likely! But I'm not doing that if you think I'm a cunt for drawing or liking Roathe. Though, this could go for any fandom, not just warframe.

Some basic thought could be employed, yknow? I.E. Why are people so attached to Roathe and debating him so deeply!? Why not about characters like Lotus, Lettie or Quincy? Surely this means everyone who talks about Roathe is blanketly misogynist or racist because they aren't defending these characters too!1!!

Well, have you considered thats like bordering thought crime territory? (Maybe, a better terminoligy is slipping my mind.) You don't exist in my private conversarions and discord servers where I HAVE had discussions about these characters and still do talk about them, and talk about their lore. I'm sorry you weren't around for when I was at peak enjoyment or that I don't post my every burning thought about every character. Novelty is a concept that gets the best of us no matter how much a character means to us. I don't have the energy to draw every character I love every single day, and I don't owe you fanart or my time in discussion, either. I shouldn't have to be in the ring fighting for every character I care about to make you feel less empassioned about slinging accusations of racism over a fictional character. Because you shouldn't be doing that in a blanket statement. That's how you socially isolate yourself from people who otherwise mean you well.

I'm predominatly black but mixed myself, so... Trust me, I was there when people were being cunts about Quincy and Lettie but I handled it with this thing called block buttons and discussing my favorites in private. I - and no one else - shouldn't need to or feel compulsed to defend the liking of Roathe. Comparing him to Astarion is a nothingburger to me because I never liked Astarion and still don't. I'm willing to say I just think Roathe is fascinating because he's the one protoframe with ties to the rest of the story and not isolated, so its easier to tie him into my investment into the whole of warframe. Its down to a content island writing problem for me. Not the race or gender of the characters.

If you find a character to be abrasive, annoying, or useless then your goal should be to just separate yourself from their discussion. Not putting on your dunce cap by believing you are morally superior or have a stronger backbone politically by denouncing new blorbo. Its sad and speaks to immaturity.
