your mom sounds a lot like my paternal grandmother. the scenes she’ve caused over my cousin not eating meat, me having short hair, my brother not wanting to through confirmation (she’s protestant and wants her grandkids to be good lil christians), etc etc. i don’t live with her though:/ i’m so sorry (and angry) you have to go through this, esp the whole wanting to get you aborted bc you’re trans???? it has me speechless, how can a human say that to their own ch

Likewise, I’m sorry anyone in your family has to put up with a person like that. It can be exhausting to deal with the comments and the judgement for an extended period of time. The worst part is the behavior can be subtle enough that it’s regarded as benevolent or benign; the offending party just “cares a lot” about you and your future. 

I want to say “it’s okay” but it’s honestly not. But I have had time to be upset, cry, and relive the comments over and over months and even years later. She has made implications of wanting to kill me in fits of anger, so I know she has bottled up frustrations toward me--it’s just something I acknowledge and live with. As long as she never actually puts her hands on me I can’t really complain. Other people have it worse. 

I’ve been trying not to moan and whine on this blog as much as I did on my last one, because I don’t want to be known for complaining about petty things, but I can’t really take the constant off-hand comments about me anymore lol. It’s starting to get to me.

Thank you! I'll admit I did extensive research on both the rabbi and the synagogue before making contact to minimize my risk of incompatibility or an unwelcoming meeting. It seems to have paid off!

My birthday is not until tomorrow (April 17) but since we work and have class, we went out to dinner today. BUT. I am looking forward to tomorrow because I have three different things that are supposed to ship in. :'D I am excite.
