Hippy Fiasco (Rides Again)
This is a great idea (again)... It all started last July, out of some necessity. Nathan Moore basically needed to get paid and get home. Click here for the back story.
That's all history... but we've always been told that "history repeats itself". The Hippy Fiasco is Riding Again. Today (3-7-11) Nathan Moore and a crew of 2 others kicked off a 4 month long tour with nowhere to go. Not to say, they aren't actually going anywhere, but they have no set schedule. Just hitting the road playing whenever and wherever they can. They launched their "tour" today from Hippy Hill in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. No set dates, no set venues... that's where we, the fans, come in.
You can find them at HippyFiasco.com to stream their adventure, connect to them on Facebook, and even request to host your own fiasco. That's right, you can suggest a place for them to play... maybe it's your local tavern, your basement or backyard, your local park, etc.
They plan to stream their entire journey 24 hours a day for the entire 4 month trek. Whether it be via iPhone or a MacBook, they will attempt to stream every moment of their journey on Ustream. Their will obviously be setbacks in areas without coverage while they are actually driving, but I have to commend their efforts, nonetheless.
I find it really exciting that they have set out on this journey and are determined to share it with the rest of us and I want to see it all happen. I now have a group of musically minded people I can check in on in those slow moments at work and those busy nights when I am working way too late, I'll have a show to stream to my couch... taking the couch fest to a whole new level.
Good luck to Nathan and crew... spread the word... DONATE to their adventure via Paypal on their site... and help them make this adventure (fiasco) happen!
A little back history on my discovery of Nathan Moore:
I was first introduced to Nathan Moore's music on Jamcruise in January, 2011. This is somewhat embarrassing on my part, considering my love for great music and Nathan's long career. While sitting with David Gahns (of Grateful Dead radio fame), we watched a soulful and cheerful Nathan Moore play to an elated pool deck from the Solar Stage... then proceeded to head to the ALO show, when I discovered Nathan just as into the music as I was. I knew instantly, I needed to learn more about this musician.
Fast forward to March, 2011 and I've listened to many of Nathan's songs, streamed several shows, and have been inspired to start writing my own songs again... and am hoping to get Nathan and his crew to bring their musical fiasco to my home town of Knoxville, Iowa. Not your average Hippy Town... but these aren't your average Hippies. Their intentions are good, the music is great, and the passion they have may just rub off on a few of us along the way!
Going to stop my writing... as I am noticing it is fragmented and probably hard to follow... in short = enjoy the music!
