SOME MIKEY STUFF FOR MY AU HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT
Mikey definitely is the main one to have a smooth transition into the whole socializing aspect of school, able to blend in with his classmates and it makes him really likeable!
He's so excited to make new friends, he almost forgets that school is for learning. Raphael worries he's too trusting, but Mikey knows how to be careful. He's a ninja after all!
He also has some stuff he does OUTSIDE of classes, he's taken up a hobby of graffiti in NYC, tagging buildings under an alias of 'orange'. Its fun! Gets him a bigger canvas to paint on, and he even makes a new friend..
Raph is on the struggle bus at the moment!!
He's never really acknowledged his lack of education until now, it's never been an issue until he got into school. And now every assignment that his classmates say is 'easy' for him is making his head spin in circles. Everything feels so complicated.
Raph is definitely the most concerned about the fact if their cloaking brooches fall off or break they'll get caught immediately. He can't risk it like his brothers are, and honestly I think part of him is jealous with how easy they seem to relax into it [especially Mikey].
He'll be alright once he figures out how to ask his younger brother to tutor him without feeling embarrassed!.. which might never happen actually.
Hide in plain sight boys, how are they doing academically? Like obvi Donnie is doing well but the other boys especially since they had no formal education.
We all know Donnie is doing exceptional, thats no surprise. But as for the others, even without formal education in the past Leo and Mikey aren't doing terrible!
Leo begs April to tutor him so he can at least pass, since Donnie refuses because he knows Leo wont learn from his style of teaching. Which is fair. So Leo gets extra help in math and science. [He's pretty good at Biology though, as the team medic]
Mikey is also struggling in math but isn't having nearly as rough a time as he thought he would, and even has a study group with some of his classmates
Raph.. is not having a blast. Especially in English, his letters are jumbled, his handwriting isn't very good. And it didn't even dawn on him that he could be this slow at reading anything that isn't a comic book. It's embarrassing for him, so he doesn't talk much about how much his grades are suffering. He wasn't expecting the work to be this tough, while everyone else around him talks about the 'easy assignments' that Raph can barely understand how to do
Ask and you shall receive ...
I've had a few people ask about how the other brothers are fitting in, compared to Mikey's ability to blend with his classmates. And while I do plan on making a post about Raph as a whole I wanna ramble about some stuff when it comes to him in this AU.
Like how he actually REJECTED the mere concept of going to high school at first.
Leo had been the one to bring the idea up, ever since they met Sunita he'd been pestering Raph about trying to get some cloaking brooches. Raph was pretty hesitant on it, kind of like a "well we've been doing fine without them why would we need them now?"
And when Leo brought up going to school, Raph immediately shut down the idea. Not even because he didn't want to, of course he wanted to! To be able to feel normal, to relate to April more and be more attached to New York as a whole. But if they were caught and people found out what they were- that scared him more than anything.
It took MONTHS of convincing him, and even after they got the brooches Raph was quick to set rules and regulations about when and where they can go with these brooches.
His anxieties of being found out are part of what he doesn't have any friends at school, why he struggles so much with joining clubs and why he has such trouble relating to his brothers, because he doesn't understand why they aren't more concerned.
In an alternate timeline, where Violet succumbs to her illness and passes away, Wolffe grieves her for a very very long time.
I am a big fan of metal music, especially the theatrical and creative progressive music like Ghost. I’m not sure it would be Wolffe’s taste, but Violet definitely has elements of her based on me, so I think she would totally be into that kind of music.
After Violet passes away, Wolffe would probably listen to her music a lot more to feel close to her and remember her. And I think this song would be really hard for him to listen to because it is about losing someone you love.
The song was originally written by the lead singer about his brother that died of lung cancer. But grief does not discriminate or exclude, and Wolffe would absolutely take this song straight to the chest.
