An updated profile of Hirchire, Trechire’s first demiprince son.
He wears the Umbral Snarl markings, signifying his place as the “ultimate game”. He has yet to ever be slain, be it in Tamriel or within Hircine’s Hunting Grounds. Hircine prides himself in raising a perfect tease to even the most elite hunters, and will often send Hirchire to test a hunter’s willpower and patience.
For those new to my blog, Hirchire is biologically the son of Trechire and Barbas, but Hircine claimed the demiprince as his own. Vile had been using Barbas to poke fun at Trechire, out of boredom and spite, by shapeshifting into her former lovers. Trechire was ready to just kill the hound again, but Hircine had had enough of his prize hound being teased. He watched, stalked, and saw the next guise Barbas would take. Hircine instructed Trechire to pretend to fall for the charade, bestowing a gift onto her. Barbas appeared as Abnur Tharn, seemingly returned from whatever had happened to him, and Trechire pretended to be fooled. Long story short, when Barbas revealed who he really was, and went to humiliate her for what she had allowed him to do, Hircine was the one to have the last laugh. He had gifted Trechire with fertility, and so Hirchire was produced from the entire ordeal. Clavicus Vile’s hound had profited another prince, and one of Vile’s most hated mortals had humiliated him by pretending to be tricked by Barbas. Barbas had caused more trouble than Vile was willing to ever reflect on, and to this day in the 4th Era, Vile refuses to acknowledge Hirchire ever happened.
The demiprince only came to be due to Vile's constant meddling with Trechire's life.
For those that don't know my Vestige's canon, thanks to the bargain she made with Clavicus Vile during the Summerset questline, Trechire became immortal. This was because, by the end of the main questline with Molag Bal, literally 95% of the NPCs you love die. Vile found this very amusing, and still held a personal vendetta against my Vestige for what happened in Morrowind- plus she was getting a touch too powerful for his liking, what with having that little battle inbetween realities inside the White-Gold Tower, just for a start. So he decided to cash in on the bargain, and took "something of value" from her- her mortality.
So now she would never find peace, never melt into Hircine's Hunting Grounds, watch loved ones come and go for all eternity, and of course never retire- as that's a hero's biggest weakness, and Vile quite likes watching heroes squirm, trying to save EVERYONE, when sometimes you just have to gamble.
Regardless of all this, there were of course slumps in the many years between the events of ESO and Oblivion, so Vile and Barbas would stir up trouble just out of boredom. One favorite past time of theirs was for Barbas to assume the forms of loved ones of Trechire, those who had gone missing or had been seemingly lost to fate. Trechire was able to catch Barbas' scent rather quickly, so most of the time it was short lived fun that was nothing more than childish taunts.
But Hircine wasn't exactly happy that Vile had meddled with one of his favorite hounds.
So Stag Dad got wind of Barbas' latest little "costume", and told Trechire to play along. I can assume you know what came of that, which Barbas and Vile both found hilarious, humiliating Trechire afterwards for how "easy and trusting you'd become, despite us graciously teaching you otherwise".
It backfired on them as Trechire had concieved a demiprince from Barbas, which Hircine was quick to pocket for himself.
"Your hound played around in my backyard and got fresh with my prize bitch. My bitch, my pup."
Hircine even went as far having the demiprince named Hirchire, for further insult, and you can bet Trechire dotted and spoiled her son rotten.
So it is very in character for Vile to want to kill ol' Hirchire. He's either angry over custody rights or sore over his plans not working out again thanks to another of the princes working against him ♡
Decided to update Hirchire!
I’ve posted about his origins on here before, so just look under his tag if you want the details. He’s Trechire’s first demiprince son, claimed by Hircine. Don’t be put off by his wolfish features, or his full blown werewolf form- he’s very chill, and quite intelligent. He loves to compare notes on the various fauna of different regions; how they can be utilized in potions, proper soul collection, recipes used to make them absolutely delicious, and of course the best methods of hunting them.
However...if you end up becoming his prey...he isn’t as welcoming nor chill any longer.
Like I said, following up on the post from yesterday.
A Quick Reminder: Trechire’s exploits include:
-defeating Molag Bal in one on one combat
-defeating Barbas who was infused with the power of Vivec, so one could argue she battled Vivec and won
-defeating the Shadow of Sotha Sil and thwarting Nocturnal
-defeating Veya, who became an abomination of Nocturnal’s, and then defeated Nocturnal a second time
-felled the first dragon in Riverhold
-literally fought a dragon on the friggin’ moon and won
-literally fought in between time and space within the White-Gold tower, fighting different reality versions of a hostile that crossed dimensions to attack her, and won
-was a moon-blessed Alpha under Hircine from the mid 2nd Era to the end of the 3rd Era, being highly praised and prized by Hircine
-was apart of the party that aided the Hero of Kvatch to stop the Oblivion Crisis, alongside the Nerevarine
-Defeated and killed Mannimarco twice, the second time Mannimarco being divine
-married Sheogorath and has remained married to the faithful prince for over 200 years
Also Note: Trechire was the only child of Vanus Galerion, the Great Mage, and knew what pressures could befall on a child of someone who was essentially a celebrity. Her mother Caafire was also well known and adored among the Fighter’s Guild, which added to that weight. All of this also seeped down to the grandchildren, but Rinyu was the only one who ever had his grandparents in his life, thus had their influence.
How all of this affected her Children:
Rinyu: There was definitely an expectation placed on Rinyu’s shoulders, but as he was born and raised on Artaeum, quickly accepted into their ranks and teachings at a young age, it never felt that suffocating to him. Trechire encouraged him to always strive to seek what he wanted out of his life, never to look to her for example and expectation. He’d always wave her off, saying, “I know, mother, I know”, but regardless his thirst to match his mother, father, and grandparents in legacy never died, even up to the 4th Era. Though the pressure came most from living up to Abnur’s legacy, and in the end, in his opinion he failed, and that weight still is on his heart to this day. But recently within the 4th Era, he aided his younger brothers and brought down Lord Harkon, obtaining Auriel’s Bow, and now controlling the ability to blot out the sun. So in a small measure, he feels as if he finally has earned his place as a “Child of the Vestige”.
Hirchire: Trechire never withheld the truth of his existence from him, but confessed everything when she knew her son was old enough to understand. She spent his entire childhood and teen years assuring him he was loved and valued dearly. Hirchire was trained by Trechire herself to be a skilled, thoughtful hunter that would bring Hircine just as much honor as Trechire had in all her years. There was quite a bit of pressure, especially when Hirchire learned Hircine wasn’t really his father, but over time that pressure died off as Hircine showed his unconditional pride in his demi-prince. He never knew the pressure of the Galerion legacy, as he didn’t dwell among mortals for all his upbringing. His sole knowledge is of the forests, of the teachings of the Wardens, of the lessons of the Hunt, and of the loyalty of the Wolf Alphas. Once he was an adult, he saw what else Tamriel had to offer, but nothing satisfied him other than these things.
Sunnabela: Perhaps it seems cruel, but Trechire never told Sunny the truth about his father. All Sunnabela was raised knowing was that his father had been one of the last of the Ayleids, and had died protecting Tamriel against Molag Bal. Trechire thought that having someone like her as a mother and now Sheogorath as a step-father would be already too much on him. As long as he knew of his father’s love, kindness, honor, and sacrifice, she knew Laloriaran would have been happy. Sunnabela grew up with not only with these two unusual parental figures, but with one thousand year old vamperic half-brother who had changed his race from altmer to khajiit and served as a Listener for the Dark Brotherhood, then a half-brother demiprince who was literally like a king of the woodlands, and then another demi-prince half brother who was two years younger than him. Despite all this, he grew up very chill, adored music, and felt no pressure other than the need to be there for little brother Kirr, who had no idea how to interact with mortals subtly. As they grew, this bond grew stronger, and Sunnabela and Kirr were inseparable. Until Sunnabela Shouted an entire Inn apart by accident when he hit a high note during one of his ballads. Trechire explained that due to his experience as a newborn, she knew Auriel had possibly altered him- giving him the dragon’s blood. It was only then that Sunnabela truly felt the pressure of being the Vestige’s son, of being an Ayleid’s son, and of his half brothers who he had thought were the only ones who ever needed to live up to the prestigious legacies of their family.
And it broke him. For as long as he could, he and Kirr dodged the call of the Dragonborn, traveling Tamriel as if nothing was different. Until the events of Skyrim, but if I were to fully go into detail about the pressures and mental toil Sunnabela went through, this post would be unbearably too long. If you’re really interested, just Ask to hear it in a separate post.
Kirr do Shaan: Alike his brother Sunnabela, Kirr also cracked, but due to the pressure of solely his mother and grandfather Galerions. Kirr adored magic and invention, and loved bringing the intoxicating winds of inspiration to Tamriel whenever he walked among mortals- as was his ability as a demiprince of Sheogorath. But as the years went by, and he saw countless mortals rise to glory thanks to his blessings, he grew jealous and bitter. He’d never met someone who could inspire himself to make breakthroughs in his own studies. It was always take, take take, never anything being given back to him. Only Sunnabela spurred him on, always there to listen to Kirr’s rambles over the topics that excited him so. Kirr finally lost it when the Psijics flat out rejected him, called him a disgrace to the Galerion bloodline solely due to his daedric blood, and turned instead to the grandchild of Mannimarco to potentially lead the College of Winterhold. He was beyond jealous at this point, not wanting to really dwell on the idea that he had failed to follow in his mother or grandfather’s footsteps, and due to his demi-nature, possibly never could. In the end, he was willing to betray his brother and their company to try and outshine his rival, to achieve what he thought would make him a true Galerion. As a result, Aithilo and Trechire pulled him out of the party, and he was one on one mentored by a retired Ceralus, who abandoned the Order to be with the last remnants of his family. He didn’t march to defeat Alduin by Sunnabela’s side, as he had promised, but Sunny prayed that one day they’d fight together once again.
A Mother’s Day piece! A little early but oh well.
Trechire with all her sons. She’s a very proud mother of two demiprinces, one vampiric Tharnling, and one Altmer- Alyeid bard boy.
Rinyu (the vampire on the far left)
Hirchire (VERY big demiprince boy in the back)
Sunnabela (freckled baby on the right)
Kirr do Shaan (demiprince mamma's boy hugging her waist)
I think I've been watching too much Tangled: The Series, but also I've decided that Rinyu, Hirchire, and Sunnabela were all born bundles of sunshine that rolled in flower fields and cried when a spider would trap a fly in its web. Much like their mother.
Rinyu was later conditioned into the Tharn personality over prolonged exposure to his father's family, though he still retains a soft heart, despite his airs.
Hirchire rarely directly speaks to mortals, outside of his family members, and so he is mainly encountered, by chance, on a hunt. Which of course he then comes across as feral and fatal. He actually is just as reasonable and sweet as any other Galerion- just not when prey is bobbing around in front of him.
Sunnabela was born pure and remains pure, even with having the weight of Dragonborn put on his shoulders. He's a happy, compassionate bard who is convinced there is good in every living creature, and strives to prove that point.
That leaves Kirr do Shaan, who was born a ball of magical and chaotic energy. He has always had a hard time understanding social cues, as well as reading body language, so is often always shadowed by Sunnabela. No filter whatsoever on him, either. He is not a ball of sunshine; he is that cloudy day with a constant drizzle of rain and thick blanket of mist.
Boredom is slowly catching up to me, and I have a few days to go before I can start recording the Psijic Order quest-line. So have some werepuppies. All of Trechire’s sons, but as puppos. Ironically only Hirchire is the actual werewolf of the group, but does a demiprince count as a lycan? I dunno.
Anyways
Rinyu (grey pup)
Hirchire (forked tongue pup)
Kirr (stripped pup)
Sunnabela (freckled pup)
My favorite part about this piece was giving the Tharnling the biggest nose.
