He won’t beg
What would someone as jealous and competitive as Carmy have thought when he saw Syd, looking ravishing, walking in at the wedding in Richie’s arm? And then dancing and smiling with him? Ofc he was gonna ask the C person to dance. It was less awkward than asking Syd. And, coincidentally, a couple of eps later he “retires” and leaves Richie to it, alone with the girl who refuses to see him as, or even call him a friend, who only sees him as a business partner, and is more worried about the debt than about him, according to what she said to him when he gave her the chance. She never stopped him. He wanted her to stop him. Deep down he’s leaving because he thinks he doesn’t stand a chance with her, she doesn’t need him to get her star, she’s as good and even better than him, and that star was all he had, other than the restaurant, to win her ❤️. She can have any guy she wants, even Richie, he thinks… So he leaves her the restaurant and walks into the sunset to find himself away from her, because when he very encriptedly told her he loved her, (even though he doesn’t want to), and that they were one and the same, she didn’t take the hint and kept calling him partner, which felt like a stab in the 💔, because she just appreciates him, she told him. All she had to do was stop him. She didn’t, she just asked him to add Richie to the agreement, after refusing to sign it for months because she was thinking about leaving him for someone he could smoke in his sleep (yeah right, over his dead body). Nothing he has to give to her seems to be good enough for her because she’s “more than perfect”, like the scallops she makes. She doesn’t need him, she just appreciates him and she was about to leave him. But if he gives her the restaurant, he will at least know she’s there, in his life, forever. She won’t go anywhere.
Carmy is hurt. And he’s proud. He won’t beg but he won’t let her go either. Even if that means giving up on her.
