I commend you for that.” He laughs, leaning back. “Well, since we’re playing for no consequences, then I shall share the fact that my wife and I have yet to consummate our marriage, and we shall continue to wait until she is ready to do so. ♛ truth serum; do you truly think you will be able to handle ruling the stormlands as an independent nation? do you think your wife would be able to?

“Of course I do. I know there are some who think I’m too young, too brash, too inexperienced. But they’re wrong. I was trained to be Lord Paramount of the Stormlands from day one; my duties as King will change very little. My bannermen and vassal houses will support me as they did my father. I will regulate trade and ensure that my country’s best interests are upheld, as my father did. I will maintain the Stormlands’ armed forces and knights with the help of my sworn lords, negotiate with our neighbors, settle disputes between houses under my rule, protect my borders… all as my father did. The only real difference is that now we will run independently of the Iron Throne. We will answer only to our own authority, not that of a usurper and a passive mother-hen.

“As for Kyra, I would not have married her if I didn’t believe she would be capable of ruling with me. She has commanded her own ship before, which is no mean feat. That alone makes her more qualified as a ruler than any other woman in the Stormlands. Or anywhere else in Westeros, for that matter. I daresay I will learn a great deal from her.”
