“All packed up?” Jey asked (Name) when he walked into their newly shared bedroom.
She looked up at him and nodded. He was going on the road for the last stretch before Wrestlemania. And she was going with him. He wanted her there. No. He needed her there.
“I just get settled in and now I’m leaving again,” she joked.
“You knew what you were getting into,” Jey teased.
“Yeah, are you sure you’re not just out for my priority boarding as a disabled person?” She asked with a laugh.
“That might be a bonus,”’he teased.
“Are you prepared for the fact that I need like an actual walker to travel an stand for that long?” She asked.
She’d told him before long lines were hard on her. And she’d finally tossed her ego aside the year before and bought a rollator styled walker for travel. She’d flown to surprise Jey on his birthday. Jimmy and Solo had helped her arrange it. And she knew that the airport would be miserable for her if she didn’t use one.
The grocery store or doctors offices were hard enough as it is.
Hell, even movie theaters sucked for her sometimes.
“I’m fine as long as you’re not suffering,” he said walking over and kissing the top of her head, “Baby, you embarrassed to be seen with one?Or using one with me?”
(Name) but her lip and nodded shyly. She didn’t wanna be in the online rumor mill as the random crippled lady that was seen with Jey and Jimmy Uso at the airport. She knew how nasty people online could act about disabled people.
She looked up at him, “I don’t know…how to handle the cameras and the eyes…” she admitted.
She’d told him that before. And they’d been photographed once or twice while out together. And she was always worried about becoming a public figure. About what the public would say. Would they hate her to the point that Jey even saw her cane, the extension of herself which allowed her to still participate in society…as something she should be shamed for.
She doubted Jey would be so easily swayed. But it was hard to tell that to her anxiety. She didn’t want to lose the greatest thing she’d ever had in her life.
Jey.
His family.
Her family now too, in all ways. Except for name.
Jey gently set his hands on her shoulders, “Hey, hey, come back to me Mamas, your brain is being mean again, don’t listen to it.” He said.
His voice was so rich. So soothing. It could bring her back from anything. She shook the thoughts from her mind for the moment. Tears pricking the corners of her eyes.
“Sorry…it’s just…I’m scared to put myself out there like this…” she admitted, “But, you make me brave.”
“You are a badass, Mamas, I’m weak to you,” Jey said with a grin.
(Name) blushed and giggled. That sounded so silly to say in her mind. But Jey meant it. And that made her heart pound. She leaned up and pressed her lips to his.
She was ready to face the world by his side. As long as she was by his side she could weather anything. And she would never give up what they had for anything.
—
The airport was thankfully uneventful. And they met up with Jimmy before heading through Security.
“Hey Sweetheart,” Jimmy said hugging (Name), completely unbothered by her pushing the rollator.
He’d been told about it and didn’t wanna make her feel self conscious about it. They were gonna be meeting up with Roman and Solo when they landed.
“Hey Jim,” she said with a smile.
“You ready to watch your boy get his ass kicked every night?” Jimmy teased.
Jey laughed and shoved his shoulder. “Gonna kick your ass.” He joked.
“You two better save it for your actual opponents,” (Name) teased them.
They let the subject drop and headed to wait at their gate. (Name) sitting down in as comfortable a position as she could with her bad leg. Knowing that unfamiliar seats could sometimes bother it. She wanted to limit the risk of her Sciatica affecting her for as long as possible.
Jey kissed her temple and sat beside her. He pulled his phone out to scroll a bit. Social media always abuzz with chatter about their favorite WWE superstars. He couldn’t lie that so many people thought he was attractive was a unique feeling. Not bad unique. It could be an ego boost at times.
But the person he loved most in the world wasn’t getting her flowers for being so gorgeous. He knew she was nervous about the spotlight. And he didn’t want her in the middle of everything. But what he wanted to do was share his happiness with the world. Not just his family. Not just his friends in the WWE.
His fans. The social universe. Everyone should know that he was in love with her.
He looked over at her and grinned. Loving how she still blushed when he looked at her with that amount of love.
“You finally ready for that hard launch?” He asked her, “Control how word gets out ?”
(Name) took a deep breath and nodded, “let me just check my face,” she joked and grabbed her purse.
She quickly fixed her hair in her compact and touched up her lipgloss. She wasn’t entirely done up. But she felt better when she had some eyeliner and lipgloss on when she left the house.
After she was done she turned to Jey and smiled before leaning in and kissing his cheek. He handed her his phone and told her to take the pic. He leaned over to rest his head on her shoulder before she paused shook her head.
“I have an idea,” she said.
She explained to him the pose idea and they adjusted their positions. He helped her up to sit in her rollator so he could stand behind her and wrap his arms around her from behind. Resting his chin on her shoulder. She angled his phone. Camera and got a few good shots. One of him smiling, one of him kissing behind her ear, and one of him acting goofy and pretending that he was going to bite her ear making her laugh.
She handed him the phone back and he helped her back into the seat she had been in before. He sat back beside her right as Jimmy walked over with some coffees for all of them. He’d had to take a call and decided to grab them each something on his way back.
“Seems like I walked up on a photo shoot,” he teased.
“Jey and I are thinking hard launch since I’m probably gonna be caught in behind the scenes moments at some point. Or in public with him,” (Name) said.
They’d been talking about it. But her brain had been too mean to her about it. So she just relented to follow Jey’s lead. He was more used to the public eye that she probably ever would be.
“I get it, bout time he got to show you off,” Jimmy joked and sat down, “So he can stop sulking over all our friends posting their couple goals crap.”
Jey huffed and shoved his shoulder making his older twin laugh.
“Face it Uce, you’re such a puppy dog for her it’s pathetic,” he teased.
“Man, shut up,” Jey said, not denying a thing.
It was the truth. And Jey wasn’t ashamed of it. But Jimmy was still his brother, so he had to give him a hard time back. (Name) just giggled and shook her head. There was never a dull moment with her man and his family. She sipped her coffee. Maybe it was the twin thing. But Jimmy knew her coffee order almost as good as Jey.
“So, who you excited to meet?” Jey asked her, trying to distract her from her nerves.
(Name) shrugged, she tried not to let it show just how much of a fan she was at times. But Jey and his family knew. She never missed any show. Even the ones where her man didn’t wrestle.
“Come on, there’s gotta be someone you don’t meet at my party that you wanna meet,” Jimmy prodded.
“Well…” she began before pausing briefly, “I’d honestly love to meet almost anybody.”
“Almost?” Jimmy asked.
“Former trash YouTubers don’t count,” she murmured.
Jey and Jimmy both snickered. He wouldn’t put her through that if he could help it.
“You gotta be nice if he turns up, Mamas,” Jey reminded her.
“I promised I would, I know how to save face,” she said, “I’ll be polite but not friendly.”
“I have never seen you not friendly,” Jimmy laughed.
“She can be, but she doesn’t like to be,” Jey said, “Right?”
“Right,” (Name) said with a soft smile.
The announcements went off and it was time for disabled or pregnant passengers to board. Thankfully Jey was able to board with her to help her.
“See you in a few,” Jey said to his brother.
They were all seated near each other. But due to her issues she got that priority boarding.
Jey grabbed her carry-on bags and followed her to the line. Unashamed to be seen with a young woman using a rollator style walker.
“I think I wanna decorate this thing when I get the chance,” she murmured, “Maybe during those afternoons when you’re working and I’m at the hotel, if I don’t feel like doing anything touristy.”
“We can stop by a craft store, maybe a merch stall, show off being my number one fan,” he joked.
“Honestly, I like the idea of making my walker Jey Uso themed,” she conceded.
“I love you,” Jey said with a wide grin.
She smiled and pecked his lips, “Post us when we get settled on the plane,” she said, “I’ll be too busy napping to worry that way.”
Jey just nodded as they finally boarded the plane. He was just happy to call her his own. But the fact that she had so much pride in being with him. And how much she seemed to just purely love him filled his heart with warmth.
He couldn’t wait to have her with him every leg of this tour and on the way to Wrestlemania. He just leaned over and pecked her cheek as she settled into her seat. He settled in beside her and posted their trio of photos.
Captioning it: “Bout time I showed off my girl. And this ain’t a new thing, we been together.”
He put his phone one airplane mode after that and tucked it into his bag. Letting himself relax with his woman by his side.
