He is building your character, and that’s what’s going to last for eternity." Rick Warren. . . It can be so easy to get caught up with impressing others with our personal success. Having lived in two of the biggest cities in the States (L.A. and NYC), I always felt the pressure to match the pace of the city, to live up to the expectation of being just as driven, ambitious, and accomplished as others. Social media doesn't make that any easier, does it? Don't we always feel somewhat tempted to show off the best sides of ourselves, to "prove" to our family and friends that we've "done something with our lives", "made something of ourselves"? . . . I find a lot of comfort knowing that while I may not always feel that I "measure up" or that I've accomplished "enough", God isn't impressed by my (or others') success at all. In fact, no matter how successful or brilliant I may be (or may not be), He still calls me His own, and knows that the greater treasure lies within our hearts, not in our personal achievements or awards. . . That being said, God isn't asking us to be any less hardworking or motivated (He is just as interested in making our lives into something greater). Rather, as we continue to diligently pursue our personal goals and dreams, He wants us to trust that He is working towards a GREATER goal of shaping us to be more like Him, complete in His love and His strength. And THAT, my friends, is what He calls true success...the ultimate, everlasting prize. ;) . . "All athletes are disciplined in their training.
