@drkfrc liked for a long starter ! (+continued)
She scoffs, irritated all over again. How can he really BELIEVE that? Her mouth opens to press forward with another argument but she stops short in the face of the expression he’s wearing, clenched fist slowly uncurling at her side. For once, he doesn’t look so... unaffected. It’s jarring.
“We are not enemies,” she states again, after a pause that is probably too long. The only difference is that this time she’s said ‘we,’ and she catches his gaze and holds it, barely even blinking. “And I don’t want to be.” That’s the TRUTH. Surely he can sense that. He has to be able to feel it in the way that she can, in the back of her mind and all over in a way that makes her skin crawl when she’s galaxies away but mostly just makes everything buzz now that she’s HERE.
Before Rey even starts speaking, she knows that what she’s about to say won’t be well-received, but that doesn’t stop her from stubbornly continuing, “I know that there’s still light in you and I’m not going to ABANDON that.” He can’t turn away from this forever. Mostly because she’s persistent and unafraid of him and she just can’t let the things he says go.
She takes a step forward with determination. Her arms fold across her chest and then, with frustration, she spreads her hands out to the sides instead. “Why are you DOING this?”
