No like Clark knows Bruce’s heartbeat (that alone is a separate post) and we know Bruce is SEASONED at working the room and manipulating a crowd. But i can definitely see there being moments where he’s just not fully at capacity to do that. The lights are too bright. The hand-claps on his shoulder actually hurt. The laughter is too sharp. The silverware clanging and scraping is getting to him. The colognes are overpowering. His stomach is in knots and his breathing techniques are doing the bare minimum. It’s been a bad month and it’s being made worse by having to string himself up on display when he doesn’t have it in him.

And then there’s a “Mr. Wayne?” from behind him, familiar and welcomed. And Bruce does a half turn and smiles softly for just a moment, which is more than enough for Clark to notice. Because Clark Kent from the Daily Planet was not assigned to work this event, but he’s here anyway. He doesn’t even like puffy affairs like this, but he’s here anyway. Bruce didn’t even whisper for him…

But he’s here anyway.
