L does not show affection openly, or often. even for their successor - siblings, it doesn't come easy. where A is concerned, though, there is something of a softer side, here. a small giftbox wrapped in deep, glittery purple paper is placed before her, topped off with a gaudy gold bow. they've just returned from the states, and at the airport's gift shop, a particularly interesting deck of cards had caught their eye ( deep black and nearly satin to the touch, with the details embossed in a shiny gold - L would be lying if they said they hadn't immediately thought of her ). ❝ for you. don't tell the others. i didn't get them anything. ❞
It's always a welcome surprise when L returns from a case. The younger siblings are always excited to see them and the mood in Wammy's is instantly elevated, more than it is already. For A, she's rotated with the senior successors to keep watch over their juniors and provide assistance with anything they may need. Since it's not their turn, they've retired to their room for the time being to catch up on some assignments that have been asked of her.
Rarely, if ever, can her concentration be broken due to the amount of focus she pours forth into her work. However, her gaze lands first on the box that's placed on her desk before wandering upward to L. A genuine, albeit tiny smile is given towards them and she offers the adjacent chair for them to sit down next to her.
❝Thank you for thinking of me, L. How did you fare while you were in the States?❞ There's a small wink at the end of her question, as if to silently say that she'll keep this a secret between them. Her work is temporarily forgotten for the time being while she opens a drawer in her desk, placing one of many flavors of Lucky Charge in front of them for L to choose from.
Gently, her hands cradle the gift box, fingers lightly playing with that golden bow that adorns the box, her eyes softening at the simple gesture of a gift from them. Her mind is already racing at what the possibilities this box could contain, but maybe it's better to stop guessing and open it already.
