When Tatia noticed the color in his cheeks and the way he was looking at her, she sent him a glare, silently telling him that he was only making it worse. She knew as soon as Emma was down for a nap, they would be taking a shower together. "Can I watch toons now?" She asked after finishing most of her breakfast. Tatia agreed & helped her down, watching her run to the other room. Tatia quickly crossed the room and launched herself at Nik, arms around his neck, and lips on his. "Morning, darling."
His cheeks managed to darken as Tatia shot him a warning glare, and in moments, Emma had sprinted toward the television. He turned to Tatia as she curled her arms around his neck and eagerly met his lips. "Did you sleep well, love?" He asked politely, though it was the furthest thing from his mind. The hybrid was desperately longing for 'naptime' to come.
"Well that was nice of him," Tatia smiled, pushing off the wall. She walked up to Nik and pressed a quick kiss to his lips, desperately wanting more, but knowing not to with Emma there. She couldn't deny she would miss their morning sex while Emma stayed in their room. She moved toward Emma, picking her up to sit in her seat, Emma sitting in her lap while she ate. "How are you feeling? Did Daddy give you your medicine?" She asked, looking up at him expectantly.
The hybrid beamed as Tatia sauntered over and planted a kiss against his lips. He returned the gesture eagerly, unable to remove his eyes from her hips before she sat down and positioned Emma carefully in her lap. Nik had nearly missed her words, too caught up in longing for their usual morning ritual. "Of course I did." He murmured after clearing his throat, his cheeks shading a light color of red.
When Tatia woke up the next morning, she realized she was in bed alone and she quickly sat up, wondering where her husband and daughter had gone to. Putting on a pair of shorts with his shirt, she headed downstairs and found them both in the kitchen, all smiles. Emma was eating a big bowl of ice cream, complete with chocolate syrup and sprinkles. "Look Mommy, I got ice cream!" She showed her the contents with a bright grin on her face. "Daddy made it for me."
It was early in the morning when Emma stirred in her sleep and Nik woke to her tiny body still curled up next to him. In moments, large doe eyes were peering up at him and he gave her a gentle smile before making good on his promise and leading her toward the kitchen. Emma dug into her large bowl of ice cream happily, cheeks bobbing up and down while she shoved a spoonful in his direction. He smiled at the little girl as Tatia padded into the kitchen.
Tatia moved so the tips of her fingers brushed against his pink cheeks and lips while she smiled back at him brightly. "Thank you," Emma said before yawning, and Tatia knew her pain medicine was kicking in fast, thankfully. She hated seeing her in pain and not able to do anything about it. "Love you Daddy, and Mommy," she murmured against his chest, her little fingers reaching for his hand.
Emma's eyes seemed to droop in a matter of minutes, and he smiled at the little girl as she snuggled closer, pride running through his chest. "I love you." He murmured back to her as she drifted off into a deep slumber with his manipulation.
Tatia shot him a knowing smile at his words, a silent agreement that they both understood. Some days she believed forever wouldn't be long enough for her. "You'll keep me safe from the bad man?" She asked, her little face pressed against his chest, much like she did when she was a baby. Tatia's fingers were running up and down her back to soothe her, hoping she would fall asleep. "I had a nightmare about him," Emma told them, her bottom lip quivering as she looked up at her father.
His heart warmed at the lovely smile that spread over Tatia's lips, making his cheeks heat up a light shade of pink. Nik then looked back down at their little girl pressed against his chest, and he was reminded of when she was much smaller and would often times sleep curled into him. "Always, sweetheart." He said, his smile falling when she mentioned nightmares. "You don't have to be frightened anymore. I'll make it better." He promised in words he could only hope she would understand.
Tatia rolled to her side, her arm stretching out above Emma's head and her fingers fell against the top of Nik's head, playing with his hair softly. "You might as well get use to this because you are stuck with us for a very long time," she smiled lovingly at him, stroking his hair. Emma turned on her side, curling into Nik's chest, laying her cast on top. "I don't wanna ever leave Daddy, I don't like being away from you or Mommy," she told him, remembering her time with Marcel.
"Forever, I hope." He whispered only loud enough for her to hear, exhaling as he felt Tatia's warm fingers in his hair again. His body relaxed under her touch, and he peered over at Emma with a permanent smile on his face. "Never again, I promise." He murmured to the little girl, trying not imagine the awful things that happened. It wasn't often that he was optimistic, but the last thing he wished to do was upset their little girl again.
