Today, the Old Courthouse is part of Gateway Arch National Park, which recognizes its pivotal role in American history.

This old courthouse is a museum with lots of historical information, well worth a visit.

Dred Scott and Harriet were denied freedom even though they lived in a free state, they fought and won but the supreme Court reversed the decision. They appealed that decision, and after a very long battle they finally got their freedom. Unfortunately Fred died of tuberculosis not long after he gained his freedom.

In life we have many steps to climb.

It was heartbreaking to see her struggling with her internal sadness. I would jump when she said jump thinking that this would make her happy, but it didn't make her happy. But now I understand that her happiness had to come from within her, she had to create that for herself. Now that I'm older, I realize it must have been a lesson for me".

Last summer I spent a day sitting on the steps of the historic (flooded in 2017) Carter County Courthouse watching the world drive by.

I'm glad someone is still dedicated to making sure there are beautiful flowers planted at this site
