A few cute images that our Wildlife camera caught this week #1.
Snakes are good for your yard and garden. The Ratsnake is harmless and you can see he was startled by us and wanted to get away. I love seeing them.
This little guy could not fly, I took it to the local wildlife center. It's prognosis is not good but it did start feeding itself after volunteers hand fed it for an hour.
My greenhouse window last year. We've made some changes this year!
The teeny weeny hoverfly is a fascinating insect to watch. Often mistaken for a bee - it's not! You know it's a hoverfly when you see it hovering. Look at the BIG eyes, fly eyes - not bee eyes. It does not sting either.
One of my favorite shrubs, the flame azalea. Unlike the standard small around variety, these guys get tall. I can't grow a standard hybrid azalea to save me but my native flames are beautiful and healthy.
Many years ago you took photos of our farm in Charlottesville with our longhorn cattle. You took one of our cow Big Red from behind sitting on a hill. This was on Garth Rd. This sweet cow passed away a few days ago and I'd love to get some prints from the photos you took. I believe this was in 2013. Any chance you can help me out with this? I just joined Tumblr so I could reach you. Please let me know. Nancy GILMAN. Is it safe to put my email here? Are you on facebook?
Nancy - I've not been on tumblr for awhile! How long ago did you contact me? I'll see if I can find you on FB ----------- don't check tumblr msg often as a lot of spam :)
I love annual 4 o'clocks and so do the night pollinators and hummingbirds (only after 4 though as the flowers are closed during the daylight)! Fascinating plant.
We just painted our house lavender gray. It was fun as it was transitioning from yellow to purple - almost left it 2 tone!
Is purple a color for you?
You're never too old to get out and have fun! My father-in-law enjoyed his sweet Valentine's Day with wonderful people at our local senior day care, JABA in Charlottesville, VA. We call it the Party House.
He gets breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and activities during the day. He says they are all good souls and the food is good!
Seniors that know how to enjoy life, no matter the age. My 93 yr old father-in-law moved in with us in June. We try to keep him busy. He still loves music and dancing (he already has his eye out for the ladies at Day Care). Food - still loves it with salt only so we swapped out the salt for 1/2 salt and no complaints. Gus the cat keeps him warm in the winter and plenty of snuggle time for both of them.
Find ways to keep your aging seniors busy other than TV!
