Before Season 8 aired, there was speculation that Sansa would be kidnapped by Cersei and taken to King’s Landing, leading to the long-awaited showdown between the two women, and prompting a dramatic rescue (or rescue attempt, at least) by Jon/Arya/Brienne/the Northern armies. Or perhaps the clever Sansa would have found a way to rescue herself, besting Cersei at last, only to wander out of the Red Keep…

…just as Daenerys Targaryen begins to rain fire onto the city.

The Story of the Rose by Dante Gabriel Rossetti

Rossetti’s inspiration for this watercolour was the thirteenth-century French poem of the same name, which is a complex allegory about love and loss.

Le Roman de la Rose (The Story of the Rose) was composed at the height of the age of chivalry and courtly love by Guillaume de Lorris. The author’s declared intention was to expound the ‘whole art of love’.

Heart On Your Sleeve Like You’ve Never Been Loved

Sansa Stark is a creature of duty, and as such she has suffered quietly but resolutely in her marriage to Joffrey Baratheon. So when a bet at the colosseum gives Sansa the opportunity to be free of her husband for the summer, she does not protest, and thus joins her sister-in-law at her ancestral home for the season; but not before a chance encounter with one of Margaery's gladiators makes Sansa question how dutiful she can truly be to her husband, when it's a stranger—High Garden's champion, Jon—who ignites within her a passion she's never known.

Once safely tucked away at High Garden, Sansa confesses her unhappiness and apparent inability to bear a child. Margaery and her grandmother suggest that the fault lies with Joffrey, and offer Sansa an alternative: To take one of their gladiators—men celebrated for their virility not only on the battlefield, but in the bedchamber as well—for a lover.

And Margaery knows precisely the champion for the job... and he might be the man worthy of not only Sansa's body, but her heart as well.

Historical Jonsa: Post Revolution and The Paris Uprising (1815-1832)

It’s true the war and poverty has claimed many and has changed the face of France. But there is always light after the dark, and there is always joy after the sorrow. Jon, a revolutionary has had enough to do with the senseless violence and bloodshed he’s seen through his adolescence. He meets Sansa, a young heiress who gave everything she had to the needy during troubled times. Together, they decide to leave Paris and head to the countryside to live the rest of their days in peace.
