Yesterday the weather defeated me. Between the ice cold rain and the wind either blowing me off the road or into traffic, I no longer felt safe. So I bit the bullet and stuck my thumb out, within 5 minutes I was riding with an Icelandic biker of the motor variety. I learned a ton about Iceland along the way, he treated me to my first hot dog here (a big deal) and then dropped me off at a campground in Akureyri, about 100 miles away. I've had mixed emotions about this move, but to be honest it's all a part of the journey I set out on. With very little plans, I am open minded to what lies ahead. Luna is still my main squeeze, but the weather here is a total wild card. Oh and remember how I was wanting to talk to more locals? Last night I stumbled upon Balkan music at a nearby pub and met lots of folks! All of them supported my decision, apparently there's always a lot of wind from the North where I was and agreed that cycling this country is quite crazy. I'm also learning about some places in the south that I'd like to spend more time in. Alas, we will see where this wild wind takes me. #biketouring #bikeiceland #hitchbiking #thumbing #wind (at Akureyri)
