I stopped and stuck my arm out when I saw headlights flash up the hill.

The car slowed down, the driver rolled down the window and I saw a handsome young man smiling at me.

"Hey, you need a ride?"

"Yes, thank you."

I said as I opened the car door and got in.

"I'm Yn. You look new around here, where you from?"

"Oh I'm from Chicago. I'm just head to San Diego to drop off this car."

I hummed and nodded my head.

"And I'm Jim, by the way. You okay with music on?"

"Go ahead."

He turned on the radio, 'Hungry Eyes' by Eric Carmen began to play.

I turned my head to admire Jim when I heard him softly hum to the song.

"Do I got something on my face?"

"N-no. Sorry."

I squinted my eyes ahead of me when I thought I saw a figure of a man standing off to the side of the road.

Oh, it's just a hitchhiker. I'll be nice today I guess.

I rolled my car up next to him.

He quickly got in since it was pouring outside.

"You alright?"

He didn't say anything, just nodded.

Okay? Guess he's an introvert or something...

"Well I'm Yn. Where you headed?"

I glanced over at him when I didn't hear him answer.

"Funeral."

"Oh, I'm sorry."

He stayed silent for a bit.

"Death is a part of life. I accepted that a long time ago."

I blinked, feeling dumbfounded.

"Um, yeah..."
