I have this weird headcannon with law and his crewmates. specifically, his former crewmates.
I always thought about the bond between law, not just as a capitan, and his crewmates to be more family like. Think most of the people consider him to be more friendly around his people and not just a grumpy man anyway. Just imagine this man waking up late and the whole crew just watches him with a bedhead, trying to pour himself some coffee, eyes barely open (Penguin ends up taking over). Yall, im not taking a man who scrunces his nose up at breakfast because he doesnt want toast, NOT SERIOUSLY.
But imagine Laws relationship with people who he has sailed for a time and had to leave at some point. It could be because of changed minds and conclusions about the pirate lifestyle, deciding that the life as a criminal is way too stressful or maybe feelings that cant be ignored. For example, a crewmate falling inlove with someone on an island where they had to stay for quiet some time. I think Law would completely understand and even encourage the crewmate to consider leaving the crew. Not because he is pushing them away or being all “just get it over with already”, more like “I completely understand what you want and I am here to support it. Your comfort and feelings matter”. And i dont want to say it in a sappy way, I think law would be very caring towards his crew. They are literally the only family he has. We saw this when he showed up in Punk Hazard without his crew, leaving them at a safe spot, Zou (yeah, that didnt really work out huh). Just to protect them from his cruel childhood abuser, he decides to go on a solo suicide mission.
Back to the whole idea of a crewmate leaving the crew, I headcanon law to provide for them while they still figure out how to work things out on their own. Law and the crew keep sailing forward, they end up calling on the snail regularly, mostly because Law wants to make sure that they are okay and well settled. He even could send them money trough mail (or however the coo sytem in one piece works) and the them being all “oh no no capitan- i mean law- please, stop sending money”. Law of course doesnt stop until they have a steady income.
The whole idea of Law caring dearly for his crew really contradicts how Doflamingo used to treat and care for the relationships between him and his mates. Law even called him out on that matter but I want to talk about that sometime later.
Anyways, I would appreciate it if someone could write something like that, doesnt have to be romantic.
