Another question, do you want it to be renewed by Disney or picked up by another channel?
Honestly I think I’m in the minority here but I want it to be renewed by Disney. Multiple reasons.
1. The fact that it’s on Disney gives it most of its charm. If it’s put on a pick-up channel, like Netflix or Freeform, it will lose that. I love how innocent it is, how it’s middle school kids and their G/subtext-PG drama.
2. Most of the set is through Disney connections..now it might be less difficult if it’s picked up by Freeform, the show would likely be COMPLETELY revamped if it was picked up by another network. Meaning new set, probably location change, and a few of the actors are likely to not return.
3. If Disney cancels it and another network picks it up, that ... doesn’t look good. Disney cancelling their show with gays BUT it gets picked up proves that it was a good show, but Disney couldn’t handle it. It’s a huge step back for them. AM is paving a way for more inclusivity and diversity in Disney Channel’s future shows. Yes, they’ve already done it, but pushing the show to another network kinda gives them an opportunity to backslide on their rep...
Of course, I’d want it to be picked up regardless, but I’m really rooting for Disney atm. Maybe that’ll change as the season progresses, but so far they’ve been exceeding my expectations, and the rep is SO good.
