Hitokara (Kyle Faulkner, 2018)
“We are becoming more and more closed off from one another it would seem, but this just fed more into my idea. I chose to go with a more stripped down concept for my film. Less actual karaoke, more heartache, a meditation on the "ecstatic truth" to be found there. It's about both solitude and isolation, and the complex intersection of the two, how they actually blur together, how we push the world away while seemingly still in need of a deeper communion, but when we seek it we only feel more alone and desire to be more alone. We crave both solitude and companionship.”
