My sump beast, ready to key the entry pad on the wall that doesn't exist yet and venture into gangland. I learned a lot! First "big" green stuff piece. (Are the spikes/frills too big?)
Just a Spoon Full of Honey
Just a Spoon Full of Honey
For my husband and me, a spoon full of honey does more than just help “the medicine go down” often the honey is the medicine. For colds and coughs we combine it with summer tinctures or it’s eaten with pineapple (Pineapples contain an enzyme called bromelain that has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce the irritation at the backs of our tongues and in our voice boxes.) For cold…

I will not show you how to live in this Innocent evil world. I will show you all the treasures, jewels, and luxuries. I will show you all my goals, good, and aim. But instead will hide you away from yours. Making me. Your salvation

What a time to be apart of the hive 🐝
When you start to tell your parent a story and then you realize you have to censor the hell out of it to the point that it loses all meaning

On February 7th, The Hive Society took over East Downtown for their first ever Instameet hosted by their very own bees, 9th Sage and Nic High.
The turnout was way above our expectations. 100+ people came out to rock with us, and we thank you all for making our first meet a success. If you missed it, here are some photos and thoughts from this great day! There are a lot of great people who…

As we sit around to reflect on 2014 and make goals and personal promises to ourselves for 2015, I’d be remiss to not highlight one of the single most important acts of kindness we here at in The Hive got a chance to experience this year.
As our first Christmas as a family, we felt it was necessary our holiday embodied what we say we’re all about. Instead of a Hive Society Secret Santa or white elephants, we wanted to adopt a family, and after much consideration, we chose to adopt three deserving families.
First and foremost, we could not have done this without you, our supporters. We set a very modest goal when we budgeted gifts, but with the help of our awesome support system, friends, family, and readers far and near sent dozens and dozens of gifts to help with our efforts.
We even got all dressed up and partied with a purpose with the good folks at Privý Houston for a Holiday Toy Drive.
THAT was a bunch of fun!
Then delivery day came. The day we were all awaiting. It’s an understatement to say I was nervous. Not that we didn’t have 100+ gifts to deliver, but I knew that it was more than about the gifts we delivered. I wanted this occasion to be a bonding moment. A moment where people put all of their stresses and burdens to the side and reveled in a human moment, found comfort in caring and knowing they were cared for.
That’s what this project was about. Had it been ten toys or a thousand, we wanted our adopted families to know that someone cared about them, someone wanted them to know that they mattered and that complete strangers considered them a part of their extended families.
On behalf of the entire Hive Society family, I want to thank each and every one of you who helped us make this a success!
If you’re one of those goal setting people, I challenge you to make exercising compassion a priority in 2015. Don’t wait for the 2015 holiday season to come before you feel obligated to be kinder to people. Do it now, do it often. Do it deliberately. Happy holidays from our family to yours. See you next year!
