erisol playing chess and a couple of meowrails being silly :33 i was a burnt out artist but homestuck makes me feel alive. every next drawing is better i feel like im coming back to life. crazy. i hope its not momentary, probably is tho. i downloaded pesterchum today and gave it a try. its pretty cool my fav option is automatic writing quirks.

It's funny. You see a comment like "It's funny everyone draws/writes Dess like she's Vriska Homestuck" and maybe someone else shares the slight tangent that "well, Kris is already like Vriska, but if Homestuck can handle two Vriskas so can Deltarune hahaha"

Which is then met with "wait, how is Kris like Vriska?"

So you chime in and explain how, based on everything we've seen; first, both are transfems who idolized and attempted to emulate who they saw as the coolest person ever (Vriska with Marquise Spinneret Mindfang, and Kris with, well, December Holiday). They both end up acting in opposition to their assumed allies at the behest of a stronger, adult authority

They both have psychic powers they have a fraught relationship with (Vriska's mind manipulat—sorry, manipul8ion, and Kris with their SOUL's powers to Control and Command, as well as read minds), they both have a friend they have a shakey history with, who they desperately want to make stronger (Tavros and Noelle), even down to acting like a player in a game who needs to increase their strength values (Vriska and Tavros being literal players in Spurb/Sgrub, while Lightners in the Dark Worlds are like players in a game—if you stop thinking of Darkners as people, that is. This part is of course, optional in Kris's case, but it's still a part of their story)

Both of these friends are then given a difficult choice that Vriska and Kris both go out of their way not to force them: Vriska asking Tavros to kill her so she can achieve her God-tier, and Kris to take back the ThornRing and tell Noelle not to bring it up. Both friends fail this request (Tavros can't bear to mercy kill Vriska, and Noelle does bring it up because she thinks she's the main character in a creepypasta and can't resist a mystery). This leads to both Vriska and Kris harming their friend in a way they can't take back, which they both deeply regret afterwards. And regardless of who was manipulating them, they both get the blame in the end (regardless of whose "fault" you think the Weird Route is, there's precisely 0% chance Kris doesn't get the full blame for it. It's their SOUL after all)

They're also both chuuni as fuck (I think that needs no further explanation)

And you tell the person this and they're like, "oohhhuhh okay never thought of that, I was mostly thinking Dess is like Vriska cause they're probably both assholes"

And you're just like "Oh, uh, yeah. That. Works too ig"

And you realize that you're both approaching media analysis VERY differently
