Another city council post this time not darkness man but lavonte and hj and the ship between them, i think people just ignore the actual time they got turned from what I've seen, i just enjoy the idea Lavonte has internalised homophobia due to the period he was turned from because being turned is described sometimes as a sensual process and besides they probably knew eachother before being turned. And the period probably never helps how Lavonte feels about it and probably sometimes thinks he's still in that time period. And is scared of public perspective if he ever accepts his feelings. Just my head cannon
