The pale king is such a loser
“No cost too great” and then bro gives up after his stupid plan fails. Smh
Wait actually this was supposed to be a joke post but then my braincell hit the corner of the screeb- so like. The general assumption that the thing pk is saying there is no cost too great for is like the preservation of hallownest right? But like. That’s not actually stated, it’s just assumed from context clues. But like. We don’t actually know what there was no cost too great for. Like. It COULD be the preservation of hallownest. It could also just be spiting the radiance. It could be never leaving his throne even if that means going to the dream realm and then dying. It could be killing the radiance off and him dying was part of the cost. Anyway. We just don’t know. And all the different possibilities would characterize him very differently - and yet in the end the outcome is the same: he could’ve had noble intentions, he might’ve just been a total petty dickwad; he might’ve given up, or everything did indeed go according to weird elaborate plan - it ultimately doesn’t matter why he did what he did. He tossed one billion children into a pit. Most of the kingdom fell to infection. He hid himself (and an important item) away behind one william buzzsaws. We will probably never fully know why, and the why is ultimately inconsequential. In the end, what he did is he left a mess for one of his forsaken pit babies to solve, and that’s probably one of the most honest expressions of what it feels like to grow up and have to reckon with the strange and often hard to understand messes the people who came before us left for us to deal with. We will never fully know why these messes are here, we just have to try our best to deal with them. To take the mantle of responsibility and try to wield it better than your predecessors, no matter their intentions. And like. That’s kind of a cool approach to storytelling. Idk. Does this make sense? It’s 6am. Yeahg
