EBV infection alters the transcriptome of B cells, which leads to presentation of MBP peptides on HLA-DR15 molecules. MBP peptide-specific CD4+ T cells are found in the peripheral immune compartment and CNS, where they recognize the same MBP peptides on HLA-DR15 molecules.
