Project Reflection

Firstly the looming ending of camtasia is a little stressful-- i’m hoping that i’ll be able to use a different email on my computer, but worse case I can use a different email on a library computer.

Secondly, the works cited credits roll is going to be very long and tedious because I have to separately cite each instagram picture or video I used....upwards of 40 but that is mostly a time constraint.

finally, in continually watching my project and understanding what i’m trying to get across, I need to figure out the optimal amount of time for the clips with words- because I wrote them I tend to fast read them but want to be sure those viewing my project are able to comprehend in adequate time.

Project Reflection

I experienced issues with overlapping text, video and audio in my video.  I think that going forward I need to spend more time (!) making the transitions smooth and a video essay that flows.  With that being said I think that my final project should include more information about each instagram account, the instagram phenomenon, and how each account has contributed.  It is in this addition of information that I believe my video will become a clear testimony to the fitspiration sensation on instagram, and instagram as a digital community.

Project Ideas

1. My first idea is “instagram famous” peoples; people who have gained social celebrity status through their instagram posts.  More specifically to delve into instagram-famous fitness accounts and how media is assisting the “athleisure” fitness trend.

2. My second idea is how various social media platforms have created almost instantaneous responses and awareness to world news.  In comparing 9/11 and more recent attacks, like Paris, Beruit, and Brussels and how different social media platforms came together to spread awareness and create a sense of community support.

The transgender game definitely played as more of a game than depression quest.  In the usage of the keyboard and “levels” as you moved through her life, it resembled a game with an underlying message.  In this way I found it more effective to hear the creator’s message than in depression quest.  I found myself paying closer attention to what was being asked, and what the “prompt” of each level was.  In this you went through the creator’s experience in transitioning and overall I felt I gained a greater understanding of transgender than depression in depression quest.  It was interesting to read her commentary on the game, and how some transgender peoples want her to delete it.  I understand that you can never truly understand someones situation through a game but I do think this game aims to create awareness--maybe not total understanding but to be aware of others struggles.
