i’m tiffany !! and i’m actually from pa and have been to new hope a bunch of times so this is rly weird to me omg but new hope is the cutest lil town irl i swear
anyway this is imaan !!!!!!!!!!!! she is a strange gal who is just trying to learn how to live and grow n change Ok .
imaan comes from a really wealthy family, but it’s sort of complicated; her mom was really rich growing up and her dad is first generation american from palestine. they met in college n her mom accidentally got pregnant with imaan !!!!!!! woopsies. nd she was pretty much disowned from her snooty family and left with this guy who she didn’t really like
nonetheless he was determined to provide for her and actually ended up doing some not-so-legal-things to succeed in business and then there they are, Rich Af ! they didn’t get rich imaan was about five or six
imaan’s dad was pretty much mia during her childhood bc he was constantly working, but besides that she really got along with him
her mom on the other hand .. its complicated. her mom is very Classy n obsessed with appearances n as a result .. imaan was a pageant kid whoopie !!!!
before they got rich imaan was pretty much last place in every pageant. but when they got monies her mom was able to dote on her, buy the prettiest dresses, makeup, etc etc and all of the sudden imaan was winning. not to mention imaan tried harder too -- she realized that she could get attention from her usually ice queen mother when she won
so anyway fast forward to high school; imaan isn’t a pageant kid anymore but she’s heavily involved in debutantes n that sort of thing
bc of the way her mom treats her she’s always learned to value appearance and status more than anything else? so while she was very popular in high school she was stereotypically mean and didn’t have any regard to people below her
there was a big turning point thats complicated that i haven’t totally worked out yet but pretty much imaan realized how fucked up her family was? she found out her dad was doing shady shit to get their money and she was finally just . so empty over the fact that her mom only loved her when she looked pretty or was placing first in something that she just SNAPPED and cut off all ties like See ya
imaan recognizes she was a totally shitty person in the past n shes TRYING to change even tho its EXTREMELY hard for her
shes starting to realize that not everything is about appearance and what really matters is what’s inside. but that doesn’t mean its not extremely hard for her to keep quiet abt how someone’s shoes are last season
imaan is just secretly drew monson and is Very Lonely n shes realizing for the first time in her life that maybe the best way to establish real relationships is to not be so manipulative and mean !!!!
so imaan is pretty much on a mission to be a better person but she has a lot of work to do (like controlling short temper, especially when things don’t go her way cue reminder of spoiled-rotten childhood)
imaan is also addicted to cocaine, which started due to the fact that her dad is also addicted to cocaine; it was a big thing in her old rich kid friend group n she hasn’t been able to shake it, esp now; trying to be a good person after being so Sucky is very stressful to her so she gets high relieve some of that stress
