This is my favourite Nina quote of all time.
For the Harvest Moon ask game, 🍀 and 💍!
☘ - Which game was the most fun in your opinion?
For me personally, I think the gameplay I enjoy most is Harvest Moon DS / DS Cute. I can play that game for hours upon hours!
I think all the games are fun, of course, but I really like the way DS uses its main quest - I like collecting the sprites by doing various tasks. My only complaint is that for 100% completion, some of the requirements are a bit TOO out there! Still, I have very fond memories of this one.
Magical Melody has a similar gameplay feature, collecting notes, which I also enjoy. I think that level of collection is more manageable, but I still think DS is 'the most fun'. This is actually different to my all-time favourite, Animal Parade, because while I prefer the game's features overall I think the 'funness' of the quests could be streamlined a bit.
💍 - First bachelor/ette you married?
MARIAAAAA, I GOTTA SEE HER
OK but now that SNES has come to Nintendo Online I'm definitely going to be marrying her again. I've married Eve and Nina on other playthroughs, and I'd like to marry Ellen and Ann sometime, but I keep going back to Maria because she's my favourite. She's a bit different in Magical Melody though, I've not married her in that...
SNES must have been an early time for videogames, because never again has a character bold facedly asked me if I believed in God as a Yes/No prompt.
If I try to cast my mind back, I think the first bachelor I married was probably ... Pierre? I didn't play Mineral Town until much later, and the only way I could play DS Cute for ages was on emulator. It would've been Carl if I had the means, I still tried to propose to him as a dude :(
...These happened within a day of each other.
I’d like to start posting game screencaps again but I’m just not playing a HM at the current moment
Day 20: Your first HM game ever?
SNES! I don’t want to go too much into detail because the last day of the challenge focuses on how you got into the series, but this was my first Harvest Moon game. ...On an emulator, whoops.
I still love SNES--the core farming can be difficult if you don’t know what you’re doing, I’ve only ever raised livestock once, but the short days with eternal nights are a fun challenge to work with. All the bachelorettes have pretty distinct personalities despite some other aspects being a little old-fashioned, and they were the basis for a lot of future candidates.
All in all I have a lot of respect for it as the first in the franchise.
In the mood for SNES character :D
Fooling around with chibis. Here’s a Nina from Harvest Moon SNES/MM. I’m so happy with how she turned out, omg. ;___; It’s a shame there isn’t more art of her, she’s such a cute little thing.
HM:SNES Eve sketch for anon Eve was my favorite of the original five. I had wooing her down to a science. If you really took advantage of the first game's infinite night, you could be married to Eve in like a month or something (This is the last sketch request in my inbox. I'm not taking any new ones for a little while. I will soon though, because this was a lot of fun!)
Day 25: Are you a completionist when it comes to HM games?
Yes.... and no.
For the first play-through, you will always make a couple mistakes here and there so you can miss a few things. Therefore, I typically wait until my second play-through to go all out with the completing (I write some pretty thorough game notes which makes completing much easier).
Now, with some games its pretty easy to complete everything (AWL, HM:SNES, etc.) so I totally go for completion right away. I don't know why I get so obsessed with completion, but as Harvest Moon is kind of a free-roam world, its the only way to feel like you really 'beat' the game or 'won' it.
When it comes to some HM games however, I don't care enough to make a completely perfect file. HM:HoLV is a more difficult game (and on my PSP which I don't show very much love to) so my main goal is just beating the main storyline and getting married (ya, didn't even get that far. That's how quickly the hype died out for me)
All in all, I'm a completionist when it suits me and when I can find the time ^-^
