Jyoti, formerly known as Specimen XA-5268, was once part of a search for a ‘cure’ to HMHVV by PensoDyne Biotechnical.
She was part of a sample selection of infants stolen from underprivileged mothers for experimental testing purposes. The group was raised in isolation at a secluded PensoDyne facility and infected with HMHVV. They were then subjected to a series of treatments intended to reverse the negative effects of the virus, while keeping the positive.
Specimen XA-5268 was the most successful. Though she still had a thirst for blood and slight allergy to sunshine and silver, she was able to voluntarily stand being in the daylight and could withstand exposure to pure silver to extended periods of time.
The cure came at a cost: it had to be pulled from victims infected by HMHVV. Specimen XA-5268 had become a vampire of vampires.
Still, the company viewed this as a success, and began to synthesize a cure from her blood, keeping her sedated and feeding her a continuous drip of HMHVV blood. It was the perfect set up for the corp.
That is until they got raided.
A rogue team of shadowrunners from Kokura Biotechnology Inc. cut the power to the building’s security, intent on doing a data heist. Unbeknownst to them, they also cut power to the HMHVV study section, letting XA-5268 wake up for the first time in months. She caught the medical team by surprise, tearing their bodies apart as she left the building. She could hear the door latches pop, but didn’t look back as she fled.
Five years have passed since then, and XA-5268, now Jyoti, is in the process of tracking down both her real family, and her ‘siblings’ from PensoDyne.
By day she works at a friend’s restaurant, by night she hunts the HMHVV infected and searches.
