Human Metapneumovirus, a virus, is contagious just like any other virus. This means that you can catch it from someone else who is infected. You can become infected by:
You may contract the disease if you come into contact with droplets of an infected individual through sneezing or spitting.
You may be infected if you touch your mouth, nose or eyes after touching infected surfaces
You should avoid touching surfaces that may contain the virus
You may have been in close contact with someone, for example by handshakes or touching.
The incubation period, or time between exposure and the first symptoms of human metapneumovirus once it has entered the body is usually three to six day. You may only experience the symptoms if you have a low immunity. The long-term effects of human metapneumovirus are not severe.Readmore
