I’ve been seeing a lot of aus where other folks in hnk have the metal/alloy arms, so why not give EVERYONE metal/alloy body parts?
For right now, here’s padparadscha. They have bronze inclusions!! At first i considered giving them the same arm setup as phos, but then i decided that they’d probably just use the bronze to fix their holes. And I can definitely see pad forming an extra pair of arms from that (or 4 arms. they get wild sometimes)
Its not really a ‘pad replaces phos au’ but more of a ‘everyone has metal/alloy inclusions’ au. Because its a good aesthetic.
So as for other ideas, i was considering a few ideas. Perhaps yellow could have lithium? it is the lightest metal and it is less dense than diamond so it would make them faster and compliment the incredible amount of speed that they already have. Or if i wanted to be angsty i could decide to give them osmium or lead body parts which would make them far slower, as what happened to phos after they got their golden arms.
For dia, i’ve gotten really attached to the idea of them having a platinum head. It really kind of stretches the boundaries for metal body parts but i don’t see why it would be impossible, just perhaps strange. But strange isn’t necessarily bad. We’ll see.
For euclase, i was considering a replacement for their hair with two separate metals. There’s not really... blue metals, to my knowledge? But I’ve seen such things as ‘blue gold’ or methods through which metals can be turned blue. There’s tons of silver/white metals that can consist the other side of their head though.
I have more ideas that are less fleshed out:
Ghost had no metals/alloys, but perhaps cairn could pick up one. Wouldn’t be surprised if they used it to just provide cover over their entire body, at least initially after losing ghost.
Bortz could be another gem that would be interesting to see with metal/alloy hair.
I like considering that the amethyst twins would have the same metal and often meld together the metal parts of their bodies to really freak people out (on top of slamming their heads together jalfkdnglsng)
Haven’t really thought much past that but I’m sure i’ll be thinking over this more over the next few days.
I was also considering an au where replacing yourself with new gem shards was very common-place for the gems, and I’m not sure whether or not i want to mash the two aus together or make them separate! it sort of violates the whole message of ‘change seen visibly in a community where change is rare, if not impossible’ etc etc but aus sort of violate a lot of stuff regarding canon anyways.
