Jason Kolchek and Salim Othman from "The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes"
My two favourites boys running from blood-hungry vampires in classic enemies to friends (to lovers?) trope
Thinking about this and sharing it before going to bed. I suppose it's Nsfw
Thinking about how if Eric is a bit of a dick and Nick asks Jason what he thinks of the guy, and Jason says, "He's a hard ass and he wants us to know it. I like it actually." Like .... Jason.
As amazing of a leader Jason is, how he tries to keep conflict between soldiers down and takes such natural command of the situation even if he isn't technically the one in charge. I think in bed he would really like being commanded, or you know, dominated.
For him to be so comfortable, and of course I'm thinking of Jalim here, but for him to trust enough to even allow it to happen in bed. He doesn't have to worry, or think much for that matter. He can just let himself enjoy and be taken care of in the best way possible for him. Take a load off from being in charge and responsible.
Which honestly works great for my other headcannon that Salim is just a beast in bed. Well, when he feels comfortable enough to be, (can't imagine he was too comfortable with his wife, that's just HC though) this kind gentle man is a lover yes, but we've seen he's capable of fighting when he needs to.
No one really listens to him, I can imagine that's frustrating. But Jason listens. It's always the nice ones isn't it? It's the way his voice rumbles. Jason loves it when Salim does that. And of course Salim Is looking out for Jason. Making sure he's safe and enjoying himself. Even still, Salim can't help but say Jason's endless praises and affection he has for him, that sort of thing flusters Jason but he loves it just as much as the rough treatment.
And maybe Salim thinks Jason is a little too cocky in his normal day to day, too much of a smart ass, that having him like this in bed is a funny sort of satisfaction for Salim. As bratty as Jason can be sometimes, he's certainly well behaved in bed for Salim.
For Jason it's probably the best surprise he could get, that Salim is a bit of a Sadist in bed and a Saint outside of it.
Idk. I just really love my head cannons for these two. It makes me happy. What do you think?
seven minutes in paradise.
The Kitty cat Tabby M
Did you know that orange collars on cats mean they aren't allowed outside? Salim has a silver tag, while Jaso n and the others have gold tags. Salim's tag has his name, rank, and POW status.
Centcom has them now.

Walking down the halls, so different from when Jason last saw them, Salim purred against his side. Jason couldn't help but lay his tail over the strong tom and press himself back at the warm comfort Salim provided.
How content he had felt in that moment, despite being held against his will in this horrible place, he was happy. That was until he realized these halls were filled with eyes.
It didn't matter where he went. There would always be eyes watching him. Judging him. Even alone when he would think about the midnight of Salim's glossy fur, he was being judged for the sin of his heart.
This love was sin and he was tainted and broken. That was what he was always told. This affection he held for the tom beside him was wrong and evil. It was. It was.
...a part of him believed it, but another part of him doubted. How could this so called loving God hate his kittens? How could this love be evil? Jason only ever felt like heaven when Salim was near.
All of these conflicting thoughts and feelings running around in his head made him feel horribly confused. He wasn't sure what to make of it. Whether to give in to hope or fear, to give in to love or hate, to repentance or sin.
Things like this always manifested itself into anger. He would hiss and lash out, he knew. He would try to hurt and push Salim away. It wasn't him Jason was cross with. He only hoped that Salim wouldn't give up on him. That Salim would be patient with him and be there to hear Jason repent for the sins he committed against him in his weakness.
Maybe it was sinful and evil to love him. Someone so perfect and ethereal as Salim was. Is. Perhaps Jason wouldn't mind an eternity in hell for a brief moment of Heaven with Salim in this mortal life.
He wasn't sure if Salim would go to a different heaven when he died, but he couldn't imagine Salim going to any other place.
Would Jason's love bring Salim down to hell with him? His selfish heart couldn't bear the idea of it. Perhaps it was best to smother his feelings before it ever came to that. Perhaps it would make it hurt less when Salim would eventually leave with his son.
All of this was under the assumption that Salim loved him back. Or ever could love him. No, Jason really wasn't one to be loved, especially by someone like Salim. But even then Salim made Jason doubt that too.
Jason would have to try and make himself unlovable, so that even Salim would be safe from Jason's sin. He would give no reason for others to try and harm them.
They would both be safe that way.
Bro this is about cats like what? Also Jason's words were hell to write down. So tiny I had to use a 0.3 pencil. My poor thumb.
Laughing dove Salim
He had been afraid then, yes, but more than that he was devastated he wouldn't be returning to his son. How he was leaving him.
But then Jason came back for him, even when his friend and superiors had all said against it. Jason came back for him.
Something more than relief settled in his chest at the sight of the man. The need to protect had been just as strong as Salim's need to survive, deeper than their first truce, Jason was his friend.
His shield.
His-
"Jason!"
He hadn't thought about it, he had only thrown his rusted weapon as hard as he could muster and they were both lucky that his aim was true.
And he laughed, surrounded by fire and vampires, Salim laughed. The sound of his bird coo mixing in just underneath the surface of his voice. As afraid as he was, as devastated as he had been, now he felt brighter than the sun with Jason by his side.
By his side, as if he'd always been there and always will.
As Salim would soon find out that's all he ever wanted Jason to be now. In an odd light being Captured by Centcom granted him that opportunity.

It wing au time. We have all the boys now we need Rachel. Chapter one of At His Side is out now.
Might I share the very first story Idea i ever had for House of ashes Jalim.
So im not sure what time period i made it in but i think it’s more modern.
Jason lives with his Grandma and Sister in London. Jason is an exotic dancer.
Salim too lives in London with his son Zain, who is in university. Now in this Salim’s wife is still technically married to Salim however isn’t around anymore because of her continuous affair. She is with a very rich man in this story and is not a nice lady. Salim is trying to officially get a divorce for a while now but She always manages to slip away from signing papers and such.
Salim works as a Baker and before Zain was born had wanted to be a poet of some kind.
Him and Jason meet when Jason’s grandma brings them in for some good bread and sweets. Salim’s shop quickly becomes her favorite place. He is very nice to her and she ends up hanging around and talking to Salim most days. She even cooks up foods and treats of her own for Salim and his son to try. Whenever Jason doesn’t find her at home he finds her at Salim’s shop. So it doesn’t take long for Jason and Salim to become friends too.
Grandma mentions one day that Jason is a dancer and Jason shyly invites him to his next show. Salim accepts but doesn’t know that its a club Jason dances at.
He’s one of a few Male dancers “for the ladies” that go but most of the dancers are Female.
Salim goes home to clean up and Zain asks him where he’s going. Salim has put on a nice button up shirt, one that isn’t wrinkled.
“A friend has invited me to watch him perform. Apparently he’s a dancer.”
He goes and is hesitant when he see’s the building. The bouncer asks his name and Salim asks if a Jason K. is here.
“Salim Othman.” Jason had him on a special list. Salim is unsettled and uncomfortable in this place.
When Jason takes stage he is more than glad and a bit nervous to see Salim sitting near the front. a smile and a wave and Jason gets started. Salim is glad it’s dark because he is RED. Jason leaves off stage and Salim goes home. He drops his keys in a daze and Zain asks how it went.
Next day Jason asks how he liked it.
“You should’a stuck around a lil longer. Wanted to talk to ya.” Salim is hesitant to answer.
“You are very good.” and Jason laughs.
“That isn’t what I asked.” Still Salim is silent.
“Listen, if you didn’t like it that’s fine-”
“I liked it.” Salim rushes out quietly with his eyes averted.
“Why not stop by again. We can chat in between my sets.”
So Salim is having a bit of a crisis. He Likes Jason. had liked him well enough before, but now he feels something he isn’t used to when he watches Jason dance.
Jason Likes Salim. He doesn’t let anyone know however. Jason’s sister is always bringing over her friends to watch Jason dance and introduce him to them. “I don’t need you to set me up.” Not with women anyway.
Salim’s “wife” is in london with her well off boyfriend to see Zain and pester Salim. She finds out about Jason from Zain, “his good friend” and it doesn’t take her long to find out what Jason does.
“Where is your Baba, Zain?”
“He’s with Jason watching him dance again.” Zain doesn’t know.
She turns up yelling about what a ‘shameful’ husband and father he is to be hanging around a place like this, while Salim and Jason were talking in a corner booth.
Salim wasn’t wearing a ring when Jason met him. Never mentioned a wife even if he mentioned a Son. Jason draws back to his dressing room with an excuse.
“I gotta get ready for my next show.”
Salim turns to his ‘wife’ once he leaves, “We need to talk.”
they go back home.
“How is it I am only your husband when it is convenient to you?”
“We are still married. Or did you forget?”
“Only because you refuse to let go of me!”
“How could you degrade yourself in such a way? How could you disgrace your vows?”
“I have done nothing wrong! Jason is a dear friend of mine. If you fail to remember, you cheated on me! I want out of this marriage!”
“Think of Zain. Think of what it will do to him.”
“Don’t use Zain as a weapon! Stop trying to find ways to chain me to you! I am thinking of Zain. I was there for him when you left. I raised that boy and look at him! Look at what he’s accomplished. The only reason you’re still a part of my life is so you can be a part of his, and that is all! Don’t try to interfere with my personal life again.”
----
Jason liked Salim. He really liked Salim. He was just.. he was kind and smart and honest and yes a bit of a smart ass. He made you care about things and other people just from his passion alone. If it mattered to Salim it mattered to Jason.
Which was why Jason didn’t tell him about his work. He was afraid to scare him off. But Salim came, he showed up in a button up shirt and his nicest shoes. He didn’t call Jason horrible things, in fact he liked Jason’s dancing. And he continued to show up in his button up shirts and his nicest shoes and a smile on his lips. He was his only friend to know about his work and his home. Salim was such a good man, after all Grandma didn’t cook for just anyone.
Jason had liked Salim and so far up until now it seemed Salim liked him. At least, Jason thought. For once he had allowed himself to hope. Hope that maybe love could be for him. Now things didn’t look so bright.
(Thats all I had written down so far in my little note pad. I could continue writing out the story plan if i feel like it. But yeah that was my first story idea for Jalim. it was that stupid song that did it. I’m sure you can guess the one.)
