Why couldn't the hobbit reach Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring?
Because he kept getting side tracked by all of Tolkien's other books on his journey! He was constantly distracted by "The Hobbit," "The Silmarillion," and even "Letters from Father Christmas" along the way. He just couldn't resist the temptation of reading one more book.
In the end, it wasn't Sauron or Saruman that defeated him, but Frodo's love for literature and lack of self-control.
