The Moon is NOT a #crackrock so stop chasing it down. In Numbers 28:11, the #NewMoon offering is commanded for the first time: “On the first of every month, present to the Lord a burnt offering of two young bulls, one ram & seven male lambs a year old, all without defect.” While keeping track of the months by watching for the New Moon, #Israelites still followed the rising of the sun to indicate a new day. #Sabbath began at sunrise & lasted 12hrs, the other 12 hours collectively known as evening & Night was a time to rest or be asleep. No work needed to be done. When the completion of the 24hrs was come it was seen by the rising of the sun, or the sound of the rooster. The beginning of the month was not known by all according to astronomical calculations but by the testimony of men appointed to watch for the first visible appearance of the full (new) moon. As soon as the fullness was seen it was announced throughout the whole country by signal fires on the mountaintops and the blowing of trumpets. The Hebrew word for “month” (#hodesh) literally means “new moon.” https://www.instagram.com/p/Br9w_u7nKsn/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ax7v088gotk6
