Draco was the Master of the Elder Wand though (at least, he was for awhile, until it shifted allegiance to Harry); he disarmed Dumbledore, prior to Snape killing Dumbledore. It never required the death of the previous holder to shift allegiance, just that they be disarmed; Grindelwald figured that out and it’s why he didn’t kill Gregorovich to take it, he only stunned and disarmed him. Voldemort mistook /Snape/ for the Master of the Elder Wand because it was Snape who killed Dumbledore.

I bow to your superior knowledge. Though still curious what would have happened if he’d realised and killed Draco
