I pre-filmed a load of videos to go up while I'm away on holiday. Two have already gone up! Find out what I'm reading on holiday and what Hogwarts houses I'm in! ☺️☀️ link in bio! 🙈 #booktube #holidaytbr #hogwartssorting #ilvermornysorting
This might be a weird thing to message you about, but I am thankful for your tags in the Parks and Rec Hogwarts post. I almost got in a fight with someone who said "Leslie is OBVIOUSLY Slytherin."
Haha, I love random messages, it’s all good! ♥
Leslie is very obviously a Hufflepuff to me. No question.
I could sort of see Leslie in Slytherin, but that would REALLY depend on how it played out, what information she got beforehand, how her pro/con list turned out. Because I think her choice would play a big part. She is stubborn. If she CHOSE Slytherin, then she would definitely get in there.
Like say, yes, Slytherin would help her on her way to greatness, she would have a lot of valuable use of her ambition and resourcefulness, and she can be cunning when she wants to.
But on the other hand, “use any means”? No. (K)Nope. Take for example her complete unwillingness to run a negative ad in her campaign! She is extremely principled, she values fair play, and she wants to win THE RIGHT WAY.
Her ambition can then be seen through her Hufflepuff traits: dedication, hard work, patience, unafraid of toil. Then in addition, you’ve also got the fair play, kindness, tolerance, loyalty. That just screams Leslie, to me? The ones I think you could most easily argue against is patience and tolerance, but I do think she aspires to be better at those.
And there comes choice again: I think Leslie would really value the Hufflepuff traits more. In her pro/con list, she might look at Slytherin’s history of fraternity (look at her dislike of the all-boys-club of politics!), their anti-muggle reputation, their focus on self-preservation (at the expense of others).
I’m not saying all Slytherins exhibit these things, or that there aren’t absolutely wonderful Slytherins (I know a few), but there is still that reputation, and I think Leslie would look at that and decide against it.
And yes, Leslie is ambitious and resourceful. But she is ALSO extremely brave, and she’s intelligent, passionate about learning, and has a strong sense of individuality. You could make an argument to put her in any house, because she is a complex character, but in the end, I think she’s a Hufflepuff.
That said, I do believe anyone’s opinions on these things are gonna be biased in some way, and I am a Hufflepuff myself, so do take that into account.
