𝐌𝐘  𝐀𝐑𝐓: the  hook  kids .

I’ve  been  wanting  to  draw  these  three  for  a  while  now  but  couldn’t  figure  out  exactly  how  or  what  i  wanted  to  do  with  them  until  just  before  xmas.  I  also  thought  giving  them  each  a  different  shade  of  a  signature  red  was  a  cool  way  to  connect  them  together.  Anyways!  Happy  New  Years  you  two!!  It’s  been  a  blast  building  on  these  three’s  dynamics  and  I  look  forward  to  developing  them  even  more  in  the  future!

fingers  carding  through  dark  strands  of  untied  hair,  soren's  other  hand  was  entwined  with  harriet's  on  his  chest,  thumb  tracing  the  soft  center  of  her  palm  and  feeling  the  callouses  on  her  skin. the  others  were  gone  from  the  train  car  and  were  under  strict  instructions  not  to  return  until  the  next  day,  so  there  wasn't  any  reason  for  harriet  to  rush  away  on  his  part,  although  she  might  soon  want  to. Feelings  weren't  soren's  strong  suit  and  they  weren't  something  either  of  them  talked  about,  but  the  slip  up  earlier  proved  that  they  needed  to,  a  thought  that  spun  through  soren's  head  for  a  third  time  before  he  drew  in  a  steadying  breath,  chest  rising  beneath  harriet's  head. "do  we  need  to  talk  about  earlier?"  he  murmured,  turning  his  head  so  that  his  lips  brushed  her  hair. "about  what  it  means?"

                  he  was  nervous  for  the  wrong  reasons.  anyone  else  might  have  expected  him  to  be  nervous  of  harriet's  disappointment.  to  be  faced  with  her  displeasure,  with  her  hurt,  because  of  what  he  had  done.  targeting  their  youngest  sister,  exposing  the  damage  that  they  had  gone  through  because  of  something  she  had  done,  and  the  ensuing  argument  that  had  happened  later  at  the  tournament.  chasing  ceej  down,  nina  being  forced  to  intercept  before  he  had  the  chance  to  do  more  than  shout  and  rough  her  up.  they  were  things  anyone  would  expect  him  to  be  sorry  for.  but  he  wasn't.  that  was  what  was  wrong.

if  harriet  expected  an  apology,  she  wouldn't  get  it.  and  if  she  didn't  get  it  .  .  .  if  she  didn't  get  it  and  she  realized  just  how  bad,  how  fucking  heartless  he  was  he  was,  that  would  be  it.  she  would  leave.  and  she  would  be  better  off  for  it,  and  harry  didn't  know  if  he  wouldn't  say  so.  harry  found  her  easily  enough  in  the  bleachers  beneath  the  starry  night  sky,  golden  lanterns  lit  the  steps  as  harry  climbed  up  the  steps  and  slumped  into  the  seat  beside  her.  harry  took  the  bottle  of  ale  he  had  taken  from  the  camelot  tavern  and  offered  it  to  her.        "        they're  calling  you  harriet  the  black  whirlwind  of  the  arena.        "

A  CONCEPT:     harry  braiding  his  s/o’s  hair  ( if  it’s  long )  bc  for  silly  reasons,  harriet  [ @hoistsails​ ]  taught  harry  how  to  braid  hair  when  they  were  younger.

[ run ]  pips  carries  harriet  to  his  house  home

          “    up  we  go !    ”    it was the only warning pips offered as he dove towards her, his wings fluttering at his back, he caught sight of harriet’s widened gaze moments before he scooped her up into his arms and zipped high into the air. the wind rushed past his ears as a whistle, hair blowing out into the wind and in a streak of green light.    “    hold  on  tight !    ”    pips shouted over the sound of the rushing wind. he climbed higher and higher into the air until the island grew further and further away and the horizon stretched out before them.

it had taken him a handful of years to learn how to fairy travel, how to bend their realms together in order to travel long distances in a short amount of time. the easiest way to describe it, was that he folded the realms together in order to skip between places. much of the magic depended largely on his own power, but places and locations also paid a part in the travel. while the isle itself was mostly barren of the familiar footprints of magic, the area surrounding the isle, particularly the space above the isle, tingled with it, no doubt a lingering affect of the anti-magic barrier that had once been there.

          pips took that lingering magic and used it as fuel. the air seemed to constrict and implode. one moment, he and harriet were high above the isle of the lost and the next, they were high above the familiar forests of ferngully.

      why must all his children act as though he has no idea about them? perhaps because he never looks to be paying attention. he rarely is, but he knows enough. “ of course i do, harriet, ” he says with a forced sigh. he steps up beside his daughter on the top deck of the roger. he places both hand and hook on the railing. “ you’re a hook. you’re far above any of those scurvy dogs down there, ” he indicates to the rest of the crew, going about their daily business. “ i’d accept nothing less. ” he glances to her. not for the first time, considering that if she’d only been a boy then perhaps his life here wouldn’t have turned out to be such a disappointment. to have someone remotely competent stepping up to the helm.

       instead, he’s lumbered with two daughters, one of whom could tame the sea itself if she tried hard enough and one far too reminiscent of his past for his own liking. but still daughters. and a son that bears such a striking resemblance to his own younger self that it hurts to look at. not to mention inept at certain piratical pursuits. not to mention lacking good form of any kind. “ i caught your brother stealing from the shop today, ” he says, turning away from her to head for the stairs. “ so i fired him. ”
