Masih belum boleh move on. This very door is a special one indeed. Not like the 'wherever-you-like' kinda door (read: pintu suka hati), but one that leads to the Palace of the Lions (harem) — the third palace of the Royal Residence, for the private use of the Sultan and his family. So during that time, not 'just anybody' can pass through this door. #tb #alhambra #granada #andalucia #espana🇪🇸 #thepastgloryofislam #summer2016 #laislabonita #holahermosa (at Alhambra, Granada, España)
Catedral Mezquita de Cordoba or Mosque-Catedral of Cordoba with a system of superimposed double arches; horseshoe arch (below) and semicircular arch (above) in the prayer hall. The twin colours is based upon the combination of brick alternates with stones. The site was originally a small temple of christian. When Muslims conquered Spain in 711, the church was first divided into Muslim and Christian halves. This sharing arrangement of the site lasted until 784, when the Christian half was purchased by the Emir 'Abd al-Rahman I, who then proceeded to demolish the original structure and build the grand mosque of Cordoba on its ground. Cordoba returned to Christian rule in 1236 and the building was converted to a Roman Catholic church and its function as christian religious services continue until today. #holahermosa #laislabonita #espana🇪🇸 #cordoba #summer2016 #melroadtograduation #inisejarahkita (at Catedral Mezquita De Córdoba)
The palace of the lions (harem) and its courtyard ;the third palace within the Alhambra was for the private use of the king and his family. The construction was started at the time of Muhammad V, in 1377.The most striking element of the courtyard is the fountain, which is how it got its name. There are 12 white marble lions holding up the basin in the centre of the palace. Some people think it represents the 12 months of the year.Others say they are 12 signs of the zodiac, others more legendary, refer to lions as the tears of a princess, which they fell onto the courtyard, emerges as 12 lions. #dreamplace #alhambradegranada #stillunderconservation #summer2016 #laislabonita #holahermosa #espana🇪🇸#melroadtograduation (at La Alhambra, Granada, Andalusia, Spain)
