The holiday bakening is upon us! Round one, anyhow. I'll probably do another round for my spouse's family and for us. This round is specifically for the baked good boxes I send to family.
What's in them?
Gingerbread (Betty Crocker recipe - 1949)
Honey cookies (Also Betty 1949 - these replace sugar cookies)
3 ingredient coconut macaroons (easiest thing on the planet - made especially for my mother)
Thumbprints (Betty 1949 by way of my mother's mother - grandma's recipe feeds legions since she had 7 kids, Betty's makes a more sensible 2 dozen)
Shortbread (my own recipe based on a bunch of trial and error with shortbread recipes - very like Walker's)
Whole wheat soda bread (recipe came from the Irish Times in the 80s originally - I've done some tinkering since I copied it from my mother)
The gingerbread, honey cookies, shortbread, thumbprints, and soda bread will also get a gluten free for my mother, lest she tiny bits herself into a problem. Again.
Macaroons and most of the shortbread are baked. Tomorrow will be any rolled out or shaped cookies (gingerbread, honey, thumbprints) and making the gf dough for things.
Soda bread will likely be a Saturday project.
GF honey and gingerbread cookies will be slice and bake so we don't have any confusion.
