Making Guesses about the Next bound
With Starbound coming to an end somewhat soon, I have been thinking about what the next bound will be.
So, I'm gonna make some almost entirely uneducated guesses here about what the next bound will be.
Will I be correct: not even a little bit.
Hollow's entirely baseless thoughts on the next bound:
Genre - the next bound will be a fantasy.
Time period - the next bound will probably be more historical.
Name - Soulbound
Why do I think this?
Currently, a lot of the players in bound are currently in other Sci-fi/sci-fi ajacent bounds (Deadzone, Codebreak, Etc) and on top of that a lot of these series are also somewhat modern day. Deadzone takes place nebulously around now maybe slightly future and Codebreak really seems to be set now.
Therefore, I think for creative expression we will likely get a bound that is not set in a modern or sci-fi setting. Fantasy, I think makes a lot of sense as an alternative option as it's still a very open genre of what exact kind of fantasy you get (Fable and Wild West are both fantasies but are very different).
I also think that with this you will get a full fantasy world not a the real world but magic exists setting (like Our OtherworldsSMP or Ouroboros)
Why Soulbound?
Honestly, no reason I just think it's neat and it fits the pattern of Skybound and Starbound both being S names.
However, Earthbound or Horizonbound could also fit if you treat bound more as the meaning of destination. Skybound = heading to the sky, Starbound = heading to the stars.
The reason I've personally been calling it soulbound in my head is because I think that Soul for a fantasy setting could lead to a lot of interesting story opportunities. Especially, for a group that is very good a doing character relationships.
Also, Soulbound fits the Skybound double meaning of being connected or trapped. They were litterally bound to the sky in skybound and being soul bound is being permanently connected.
Plus, something like Horizonbound makes it seem like they are going to be continually moving which is hard to do in a Minecraft series as Minecraft is really a base building game that wants you to settle down.
So, yeah, these are my entirely uneducated guesses on the next bound it would be kinda neat if any of these occur or I am even remotely correct about anything. But, the likelihood is I won’t be.
