Batty Banter: The Show Within the Show

Charcoal Star (Lola Tilly) is a 25 year old waitress who dreams of becoming a professional chef at her job. However, she is currently stuck at the bottom with little money to her name.

While she wanted to stay with her parents to save expenses, she was kicked out so she could “experience the real world.” So in the meantime, she put herself up to be a roommate.

At the same time, Jasper Stone (Mr. Mustard) is trying to become a Fashion Designer. So far he has had a few gigs, but no big breaks. With money low, but still having enough for an apartment space, he is set on having a roommate.

Jasper and Charcoal first met after he made an appearance at her job. Charcoal actually spilled water on a rough draft of a roommate form Jasper was writing. They set it off from there and they started to room with each other.

A week later while arguing, they stumbled upon Betty, a foster child who ran away from her foster parents. When trying to return her, they have an encounter with the foster parents, who turn out to be horrible and disgusting. After turning the parents in and defending Betty, they decide to take her in. With the help of their friends, they now take care of Betty while also trying to make it big in the hard world.

History

Batty Banter has been on air since 1999 with two cancellations; one in 2000 and one in 2005. Each cancellation made the show halt production for a year. The show was canceled the first time because of “LGBTQ” themes. It was canceled a second time because their network was cutting shows and theirs happened to be in the crossfire. The show originally ended in 2008, but due to popularity, it was rebooted years later.

Because it wouldn’t make sense in the timeline if she suddenly aged up, the actor for Betty was changed between seasons. Because the show is nearing the end, the current actor for Betty is the final one.

Animal Categories

The main four types of animals are usually put into these categories: Carnivore, Domesticated, Herbivore, and Omnivores.

There are also the lesser categories like Bugs, Birds, Aquatic, Mutts, and Modified Shows.

Almost every animal can be considered an Omnivore, but if their main diet is a specific thing, then they are put in that category. The Omnivore category is mainly for the animals whose diet is evenly split.

Omnivores are treated with high suspicion because they are not “fully a carnivore or a herbivore.” This treatment is similar to what Domestics face.

Domesticated animals are considered weak and not ‘fully an animal’ because of how they evolved. Despite being actually either a Carnivore, Herbivore, or an Omnivore, they are not fully considered one. In medical terms, they are marked usually as a ‘Domesticated Carnivore/Herbivore/Omnivore.’

Domesticated animals typically have only four ‘fingers.’

Carnivores are traditionally the strongest, Herbivores are traditionally the weakest, and Domesticated and Omnivores are traditionally as strong as the average human. (Neither too weak/strong, just average)

Carnivores have a strong drug resistance and can withstand almost all of them. Herbivores are weaker to drugs and if they wanted to take any, they would need to find weaker acting ones or ones made for them. Domesticated and Omnivores have a normal human resistance to drugs.

Most Aquatic animals are close to mermaids (no legs) and they mostly stay in the Oceans.

Animals with two different species of parents will have traits from both. They are the Mutt category.

Animals that are unnatural colors (Pinks, Purples, Etc) are Modified Shows. Being a Show Animal was popular back then, so a generation of animals dyed their fur in order to stand out against competition. However, the dye chemical was so strong that it altered their DNA and passed it along to future generations.

Modified Shows inner ear and paw pads are typically different colors or shades than each other.

History and World Function

Evolution is how the animals became to look more human or anthropomorphic.

In ancient times, animals used to hunt each other in order to survive, eat, and for fun. They also acted more feral and ‘mindless.’

Human history and this world’s history is basically the same.

The way the animals evolved was based on the environment they lived in.

The countries and continents are mostly the same as ours, but there is also the Ocean Continents. The Ocean Continents are named after our oceans. (Ex. The Atlantic Ocean)

Aquatic towns can be found on the surface in the forms of lakes or ponds. That is also usually where Ocean inhabitants move to when they come to the surface.

Society Now

The stereotype of Carnivores eating Herbivores is long in the past.

Animals that participate in the old rules of eating other animals are called Cannibals. Cannibalism is almost nonexistent, with cases only appearing in a cult setting or other unsettling scenarios.

The meat that is consumed in this world is basically vegetarian meat, but scientists have boosted up the protein content. So basically, the meat is just vegetables and protein. Herbivores can eat the meat, but if they do, they would feel sick and ‘stuffed.’

Herbivores/Carnivore relationships are more accepted now a-days. There are the occasional negative comments/glances but they are mostly from those who are older or conservative.

The names of establishments in this world is a mix of ‘pet places’ and normal everyday places. For example, a walk-in would be called ‘The Vet,’ and a regular hospital would still be called a hospital.

The pets, since they are all animals, are mostly robots. Plants are also a common thing that animals own.

Animals that have a job in our world usually do that job in their world, especially the jobs that help run the Earth. (Ex: Bee jobs and Eggs)
