1. Describe yourself how you would describe a character you’re introducing
She didn’t think that she was pretty. In fact, she would be willing to argue that she wasn’t and she was great at arguing. She could admit that she had certain traits that weren’t hideous, like her eyes, but as a whole, she never looked in the mirror and enjoyed what she saw.
A part of her knew that it was all bullshit. She knew deep down that she could be pretty, with the right makeup, but to her, being pretty meant something much more. It was a confidence that she never had. The kind that would have made her stand taller instead of trying to make her 5′9″ frame seem tiny. A kind of knowledge that she wasn’t awkward, so she could look at people with her hazel eyes and know that she had no reason to be ashamed.
A section of her mind continued to repeat the same mantra. You’re not pretty. And she was such a good liar, that she believed it.
