You want to know what really annoys me about Demon!Dean being cured? It’s not that we only had Demon!Dean for three episodes. It’s not that the story line was wasted by the writers (in my opinion). What is annoying is that the show wants me to believe that Sam successfully cured Dean when he did not even do the ritual properly.

Step 1: Consecrated ground The show says that demons must be cured in a devil’s trap on consecrated ground or it won’t work.  Well, Sam had the devil’s trap but I highly doubt that the bunker is on consecrated ground.  How does he even know that bunker was on  consecrated ground in the first place?  Why has this step seemed to be forgotten?  Sam remembered about it during the trials when he was curing Crowley so why did he forget about it here.  So already, the curing shouldn’t have worked.

Step 2:  Purified blood The person performing the ritual(Sam) must purify their blood by confession.  Sam kind of got this by using blood that was blessed by a priest instead of using his own purified blood.  Does this count?  How did Sam know that this loop hole would have worked?  So, whether or not this step was actually completed depends on if it had to be strictly purified blood of the person performing the ritual or if it could have just been something along those lines.

Step 3:  Injecting the blood Injecting the demon with purified blood over a period of 8 hours, this is probably the only step that we can say that Sam actually completed and did right.  Though it could be said that he didn’t even do this right cause he used blessed blood rather than his own purified blood.

Step 4:  Exorcism This is the final step where Sam would have had to cut open the palm of his hand, place it over Deans mouth and do the exorcism.  This step was completely fuckin ignored.  Sam didn’t do this step at all.  This was the final step, the actual exorcism that the ritual had been building up to and they didn’t even do it.  There was no bloody palm sandwich, there wasn’t a blinding light.  Dean should not have been cured.  How did this work?!

In 08x22 ‘Clip Show’, we see Father Max Thompson cure a demon and we find out that this is in fact possible.  Thompson decides that it is time to do the exorcism that would end the ritual when the demon starts to sound human, with Dean however, he just continued to sound like his demon self right until he was 'cured’. Also, I’ve tried to find gifs of it and have looked everywhere for it and I can’t make gifs so I’m sorry for this one.  When the demon in Clip Show was cured, his demon eyes went back to his human eyes but the black left his eyes quickly from one eye and then from the other.  With Dean however, his demon eyes disappeared slowly and from both eyes at the same time.  Why would this be different when they are both being 'cured’?  Or is this just a case of the shows brilliant track record for continuity. However you look at it, this should not have worked and Dean should still be a demon until it was done properly.  I could have forgave the show for doing this if they played it off that Dean was actually pretending to be cured and season 10 would have been just about Demon!Dean and then season 11 could have went on with the MOC.  Which the show decided not to do because god forbid Dean have an entire season all to himself.  So, instead of playing with their lazy writing and having a season of what we really wanted we instead got a season of Sam and that sweet brotherly love(nothing says brotherly love like going behind your brothers back, ignoring his wishes and fucking over the world by unleashing the darkness).  If I got anything wrong while writing this please tell me. :)
