From the writer ask meme: I remember you recently said you'd like to revisit a passion for the absolute because you know and understand more about the character and society dynamics from that period etc. And I'd sell my soul to see what you could come up with, like, for real. I've been in love with your writing for years now and it all started from there :3
Awwww, that’s so kind of you! Thank you for such an absolutely lovely compliment! <3
I’m not even sure where I’d begin in terms of revision, honestly… probably make the whole thing more psychologically complicated and tighten up the dialogue a bit more. I’d have to re-read the whole thing, to figure out what else I’d change… idk, probably a lot of little things would change. courfeyrac’s way of framing things, subtle behaviors, ideas about dress… I feel like as a writer I’ve gotten better at entering into an historical mindset and not importing contemporary feelings/ideas into the past… or like, if I do explore feminist themes, phrasing them appropriately, or showing the limitations of contemporary ideas, or the limitations women of the time just accept because what else would there be??? Plus I feel like I’d make everyone natter on EVEN MORE about contemporary poetry, art, music, etc. just because I wouldn’t be able to help myself.
