The British Boot Company. Lomo LC-A. Fuji Superia 100.
The British Boot Company, formally Holts claims to be one of the first places to stock Dr Martens boots and shoes. It became a destination for punks and skinheads who allegedly travelled some distance to purchase the iconic footwear.
Whilst Dr Martens and other brands have moved their production overseas to save on costs the shop has remained loyal to British based companies. I asked if they had some official laces for a pair of Docs and was told that "official" was a dirty word!
It's really telling that Tyler's tombstone says "eldest son and brother", while Dale's has "beloved brother and son". It's like, Tyler's the eldest Holt - that's his whole tag, his whole life. Consider it: you forget his name and only his personality, and you think, "The eldest Holt - what was his name?" That's all he is and all he ever was. That's his job. And the fact that even his tombstone never shows his true self in and out of the role he was assigned, is just tragic! But you die the way you live, and if you were never truly acknowledged in life, it probably won't happen when you're dead - the facts are all true.
Tyler is the most unique character, that he's the only one whose character is just mostly implied. He was shown as a semi-belligerent person(and it was only mentioned that he isn't usually like that, but most people wouldn't remember that one line over everything they're shown about him), and only every now and then we see the love he has for his family; the dedication and care he exhibits in front of his Ma, but also the helplessness he has around her; and the cage that's been built all around him. Here and there, in bits and bobbles and pieces, you get an implication or a small, sidelined piece of proof that he's more than it seems. And the tombstone is one of those proofs of that.
It's really telling that there's a big difference there - replacing "beloved" with a synonym for variety seems normal, or something else that's simple enough - but "eldest"? At first it seems just considerably normal, but if you've caught those bits and pieces, it looks wrong. And that fact that it's the only change at all except for the wording?! What else is there to say - Tyler Holt is a tragic character, whose thread will always have a black sheen wrapped around it, who will never escape his invisible-but-existing cage of torture, not in any of his endings, nor in his death.
Holts green grocers as was sketch | Limited edition fine art print from an original drawing. My sketches start life as hand-drawn graphite images made on cartridge paper. I often work on these with charcoal, oil pastel or Caran d'Ache to create the look I'm after. The artwork is then scanned and finessed digitally ready for fine art printing. This process often referred to as Giclée printing uses the highest standard of printing methods to give gallery quality results that maintain all the details of the original sketch. The graphite pencils I use are Faber-Castel, the oil pastels are Sennelier and the china-graph is Caran d’Ache. The inks are pigment based archive quality (100years+). The heavyweight specialist papers I use are of the best professional quality having a wonderful surface designed specifically for fine art drawings and illustrations. Very limited editions with only ten per size printed. All artwork is signed and includes a certificate of authenticity. The A5 are 5.8" x 8.25" (14.8cm x 21cm) The A4 are 8.25" x 11.7" (21cm x 29.8cm) The A3 are 11.7" x 16.5" (29.8 cm x 42cm) The A2 are 16.5" x 23.4" (42 cm x 59.4cm) Frames not included in price.
