GSL WC Pokebattle & Ro16 [ Spoilers ]

Following the huge Foreigner vs Korean debate from TSL, we had the WC team battle in the last few days. Everyone had their theories concerning why their favorite players weren't winning, I had a few of my own as well:

At any given level, particularly at the pro level, any player has the potential to take a game off of another player. As such, regardless of who wins or loses, BO1 aren't great indicators of a player's performance.

The purpose of the team league was just for fans to enjoy a bit of friendly competition on the eve of the actual tournament, raising extra money for the JP Earthquake relief (please go donate if you haven't btw!)

It doesn't make sense for any player to reveal their strategies in a friendly team league right before the actual tournament.

Now that the official tournament is under way and the RO16 is done, I think the players are going to be taking their games a lot more seriously. Just being in the RO16 nets them more cash than winning some tournaments hosted elsewhere, and the winnings scale very favorably, so the incentive to do well is definitely present.
