The nightmare
The room was filled with a warm light, filtering through the face of a giant clock in glinting beams of gold. It gleamed off of dusty clock gears, and sparkled with dust motes.
The gears did not move. The tower was silent but for the sound of wet, heavy, breathing. The sounds of a woman drowning. There was not water.
As Thor ventured further into the clock tower, his footfalls a thunder in the silence, tear-blue eyes caught sight of the one whose bloodied footprints he had followed into the tower, up and up to the top.
There, before the face of the clock and leaned up against empty crates, his sister sat, gasping for a breath that she could not catch. Slowly, achingly, she drowned upon her own blood, an arrow protruding from her chest, looking gossamer in the sunlight.
Fear and sadness both thick in his chest, the Thunderer approached once more, and the Trickster, upon hearing him, side-eyed him in an accusatory manner.
"G--Get -- out--" she gasped, blood blooming passed her lips to trickle down a chin the colour of ivory.
He disobeyed.
Thor bent before his sister, gathering her into his arms despite her weak protests, and buried his face in her hair, tears dripped their way passed his eyelids, liquid flame upon his cheeks. "I'm so sorry -- Loki I'm sorry...I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he murmured, his voice a rasp in his throat.
"This -- is your fault..."
