let's do my muse: death eater + fleur isabelle delacour
want a death eater au / headcanon list of your favorite hp character?
@holy-snitch. fleur delacour as a death eater would genuinely terrify me. like. she’d be that woman dressed in white on a battlefield but without a single drop of blood on her. just. pristine.
their reputation. fleur delacour is on the same notch of fashionable, sophisticated, classy, and elegant as narcissa malfoy. she is known as a pale ghost surrounded by mist; an ethereal being of grace unmarred and untouched by the blood and carnage that surrounds her - despite the fact that she was the cause of most of it. an angel of great beauty - but a reaper of death. those who faced her in battle and lay eyes on her… did not live to tell of her beauty. she left no survivors. only empty corpses, shells of their former selves, in her wake.
their commitment. her devotion to her family also rivaled that of narcissa malfoy’s - to her younger sister, gabrielle, who she had failed to protect once before, in the tournament - she’d learned her lesson since then. to protect family you had to do whatever it cost, and fuck the consequences. and the strongest magic to defend those you love? the dark arts. of course, rising up through the ranks of death eaters also had its perks - everyone below her answered to her - an army at her disposal, trusting her word, and the purebloods accepted her into their midst with open arms, praising her coordination, her sense of style, her elegance while casting spells. they had high tastes, appreciated her charm for what it was.
type of dark witch/wizard. the power over life and death to be held in in the palm of her hand… what an enticing idea. the power to control who remains in the world and who doesn’t, regardless of whether they want to or not - the power to make those decisions for people, regardless of their opinion… that kind of power was intoxicating. while fleur personally did not cause intentional pain to others - she had people under her for that, who tortured her victims for her while she watched them, and all she had to do was turn to one of her death eaters and smile and ask in that charming voice of hers and voila, she did not even have to get her hands dirty - she did enjoy being the one to cast the killing curse. death was so final of an adventure, such an undefeatable challenge… such a beautiful, elegant flash of green.
associated dark curse. each dark witch and wizard excels at one of the three unforgivable curses more so than the others. the unforgivable curse that a witch or wizard excels in says a lot about who they truly are. avada kedavra is fleur’s curse of choice; as merciless and swift as she, as certain as her ice-cold mind and as graceful as the wave of her wand, held elegantly by a delicate hand. the killing curse, as unforgiving as a woman scorned’s wrath, and just as permanent. a grudge can be laid to rest after the perpetrator has departed - permanently. no greater revenge than to take the life and steal the soul of he who wronged her. and if they really wronged her… well… no more painful revenge than to steal the lives of those he loved, leaving their lifeless bodies for the offender to find… and anguish in their loss before she rid the world of them as well.
their descent to darkness. the triwizard tournament showed her how inadequate she would prove to be should she ever be forced to protect herself and her sister from harm - as well as how easily overlooked she could become when someone else interesting came along. while she did not see herself as vain, having the attention stolen from her was… unpleasant. she put effort into herself, both in her casting abilities and form (it was impeccable, perfect formation that even the most skilled wizards would be jealous of), as well as her physical appearance. and she was intelligent - extremely so, with ice sharp wit to match it given the opportunity. to have all her efforts and hard work overlooked… well, that would not do.
after being approached by the durmstrang headmaster and offered a book on dark spells as his congratulations for her efforts in the tournament, fleur did not think much about it. however, reading through the book, she realized that a great deal of the dark magic contained in the book was restricted magic - illegal, powerful - that of the darkest of wizards. the book, written elegantly by someone who had very personal knowledge of the craft themselves, suggested the pathway to power. and scrawled in the back pages of the book… the contact information for the headmaster himself.
months of communication between the two, questions from fleur and answers from karkaroff, led the witch deep into practicing the dark arts - building a powerful that matched her elegance, that fed off of her drive and her spirit, that made her stronger. her allegiance wavering to the dark lord was solidified by karkaroff - trusted long-distance mentor, secret keeper, teacher - and by the offer he procured for her: a place in the higher ranks of the dark lord’s army, among the upper class of purebloods who would appreciate all of the qualities that fleur presented (naively having revealed them to the durmstrang headmaster in one of her letters, only to be used to manipulate her now).
manipulation may have been the driving factor to her joining the ranks of the death eaters, but she quickly began to enjoy it. while there were… unsavory characters that she kept away from, the lowest of the low, she enjoyed mingling with the upper classes and ranks. wizards and witches who appreciated her well-developed intelligence and knowledge of her history of the dark arts, appreciated her beauty and her elegance, appreciated her adeptness with their craft. the malfoy woman in particular - narcissa malfoy, with her proper speech and class, her confidence and her appreciation for the finer things in life, and her dislike for getting her own hands dirty but her firm feminine strength and devotion to her family - fleur got along particularly well with her.
their teamwork. fleur does not fight beside those who are below her - she leaves them to get their hands dirty while her killing curse works it magic. her orders are clean, crisp, sharp, and leave no room for confusion, question, or argument. those below her know to listen to her, respect her for her confidence and her willingness to let them hurt whom they please. she will, however, fight alongside those she sees as equal to her - such as narcissa malfoy. in those instants, she will not only do her duty but fiercely protect those she cares for.
their theme song. fleur delacour’s theme song would be how to be a heartbreaker by marina and the diamonds.
