My Aunt Ruthie (left) and my Mom. They had no idea how life would roll out for them. . Innocent and sweet little girls. . They both endured what many would believe to be hell on earth. . My Aunt Ruthie I have so much love for her. She was the matriarch of our family. She roared her demands and followed through with whoopins nobody wanted. . She was also a prankster. She LOVED shouting and startling my mom. BANG! She would scream unexpectedly and mom would pierce her lips, “you ain’t right, Ruth!” Ruthie would be crying with laughter and gasping for air. I miss her. . Why I bring her up now? . The last time I saw my auntie I don’t even remember it. I paid to have our downstairs bathroom able to accommodate her wheelchair just so she could come to Thanksgiving dinner. I paid her shuttle service. I wanted her there so bad. . But I started drinking earlier in the day than normal and by dinner time I was drunk. . The next time I would see her it would be to say goodbye while she lie in a coma. . My wish for you is that you experience your loved ones sober. Not just alcohol free but BE with them. Make eye contact, hold their hand, tell them how much they mean to you. . I love you, Ruthie. . #soberrevolution #author #whollysober #holysober #soberintentions #coach #sobernotabstinent #sobervsrecovery https://www.instagram.com/p/B5ZOOd_JBHJ/?igshid=zti966z9p7by
